Re: Our M26 appears in a music video...

Our 26M (Y.B.NORMAL) made it on the front page of our local newspaper (Appleton Post Crescent) several years ago when they abruptly closed the lock on the Fox River going from Lake Winnebago to Little Lake Butte des Mortes, trapping powerboats downstream on the river. The photographer was apparently...

Re: Where is everyone?

I'm busy SAILING! The season here in NE Wisconsin is short. So far I've been sailing the upper Bay of Green Bay (Lake Michigan), middle Bay of Green Bay, and Lake Winnebago. Ah, the wonders of trailer sailing.

Re: Canada rules & North Channel

I've been up there twice with the trailer sailors group. We routinely communicated on our VHF radios during our morning/evening call-ins. While I bought a composting head before our first trip up there, I never heard of anyone in our group having a problem with Canadian officials over a port-a-potty...

Re: Narrow Dodger

I purchased and installed the BWY full enclosure and stern rail seats this Spring and am VERY happy with them. I leave the frame for the dodger in place as it adds more hand holds going forward, and just remove the canvas. I did have a problem with the stern rail seats, but BWY worked with me to sol...

Re: What size Spinnaker are you using? (26M)

One of our sailors here is using an old E-scow symmetrical spinnaker on his 26D for racing. It works great, however, he suggests an A-sail for cruising. He got his S-sail for almost nothing because most E racers are going with A-sails.

Jimmyt,
Did you have any trouble aligning your motor to your rudders with the quick disconnect link? Mine is a few degrees off. I'm not sure if I should bend the stainless connector that goes from the rudder arm to the quick disconnect link in order to get the needed adjustment.

Re: Dodger Design for 26M

I just finished installing the BWY stern rail seats, dodger, bimini and enclosure today. The only thing I ran into was I couldn't install the snaps on the forward end of the panels outboard of the dodger as I have the halyard clutches mounted just forward of it. Not a problem as the tab just drops d...

Re: A Pennsylvania Lake to Dip In?

I did see an X on Pymatuning, Northwest of Pittsburgh a few years ago; it had a 20hp on it.
Part of that lake is in Ohio, part in PA. I don't know if that would make a difference.
I'll try to check the next time I'm in PA in April.

Re: A Pennsylvania Lake to Dip In?

Beltzville Lake is your best bet. Most lakes in PA have limits on horsepower such that the Mac's 50+ hp motors can't be used. However, Beltzville has unlimited horsepower and it's not that far from Route 81. https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/BeltzvilleStatePark/Pages/default.aspx How str...

Re: Spring is in the air - or radio

Temps here have been sub zero for weeks (Fahrenheit). Pretty sure the lake is frozen 2 feet thick. p.s. You suck :) Ice only 2' ? We've got 3'+ with 3' of snow (4-5' in Northern Wisconsin) here in NE Wisconsin. I agree you've had it colder. We've had lows in the -0s for the last few months with rec...

Re: Narrow Dodger

I emailed BWY today. The reason the narrow dodger is the only option for the M full enclosure is that the deck is narrower than the X, and the wide dodger won't work with the full enclosure. You also must have the stern rail seats.

Re: Narrow Dodger

I have the BWY narrow dodger (circa 2008) and have never seen the wide version in person. I went a season with it off and missed it and put it back on. It's a great addition. I bought the clear plastic "doors" so we can expand the cabin and have a window. Allows lots of light in and more headroom e...

Re: What's everyone doing about curtains?

Thanks for all the ideas, guys. I'm leaning toward the shock cord and curtain style, but am not clear on how the shock cords are terminated. I'm not real thrilled with drilling holes in the cabin lining. Perhaps an adhesive termination of some sort would be best. We use shock cords terminated with ...

Re: For those who like music while sailing

I have 4 box speakers on my 26M. The front two are hung from the ceiling: one across from the head, the other outboard and forward of the dinette. The other two are on hinges on either side of the companionway; they can swing into the cabin or out toward the cockpit. I got the idea from a previous (...
