Re: X & M Owners: How Did You Choose Which One?

Most of the important differences have been covered. I would just add that in high seas, especially a following sea, I would rather be in the M. it has a more rounded rear, a smaller opening for the engine backthere, and the step up to get into the cabin would tend to keep water out. the other factor...

furling from back,of boom

on my 26m i have single line jiffy reefing from the back of the boom, works great in light winds but in heavy winds heaving too, the back of the boom is not handy. even sailing with main only which the m is so good at, I can heave too, kill boat speed, then pull the boom over, but in howling winds i...

Re: what's the deal with unhooking the engine?

Re: how to deal with blue speckles in M non skid?

Thanks for all the tips, cleaning with 7th generation cleaner and a soft plastic brush and water rinse seemed to work best, and took off most of the speckles, A few deeper damaged spots did show dark blue below the white gelcoat, like the crease where the seat comes down too hard at times, so there ...

how to deal with blue speckles in M non skid?

After 2 years the dealer power washed and waxed my m, blue hull, and now the white non skid has specks of blue all over, I guess they just were too rough with buffing or something and took off some of the gelcoat??, so I now I see the blue layer underneath coming through, showing up as hundreds of v...

ventilation below rub rail on 26m?

I want to add more ventilation to the aft bunk below of the cockpit, can t decide the best way to do it wouthout getting into gas fumes from the fuel tanks under cockpit seats or compromising sea worthyness. talked to a fellow with an x that had installed opening ports beneath the rub rail, and he h...

Re: Re-powering a MacM from 70 HP up

DaveB: unless you want to go really biggier and heavier, I think I too would consider the new yamaha 70 and new suzuki midsize (70?). but with more yamaha dealers in florida, that might be part of the decision. the yamaha 60 i have I am happy with, hi thrust gets about 18 knots at sea level, the new...

Re: Small generators

Ned Miller, since you did the time consuming research on the AC and heater and other appliances that would run on power from the small honda, could you list them, and maybe even possible sources? thanks

Re: Havasu Pocket Cruisers Convention 2011

sounds invitiing, Just be aware that the lake, just like lake mead, is home to quagga mussels, see http://havasufishing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=9 and that water ballast boats from all over would be a great way to spread them around, not a reason not to g...

review of 9 foot West Marine Zodiac type inflatable (HP275

Like the fellow who got one after a porta boat, I have a 9 foot West Marine Zodiac type inflatable (HP275), with high pressure floor and inflated tube keel I really like it, a stable platform for gettin on/off the macgregor m or docks or whatever. the only thing is that I found out that hard way tha...

Re: WHITE OR BLUE?

Since the white hull is less controversial, you should probably mostly listen to those who actually have blue hulls or who have had both. I have a blue hull m and I would agree with one of the early posters that the white hull is more practical, less easy to scuff/scratch up, easier to keep looking ...

Re: Air Conditioner - other ideas?

there might be some options related to the low draw smaller units now used in lance 825s and other small pick up campers, designed to run on one of the small honda generators, some seem to be even designed to run for a while on batter only, see http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&...

Re: Where to install larger 10 micron filter on M?

It was a local yamaha dealer in CO who said it would void the factory warranty if the filter was not installed. He also said the newer 4 strokes have small jets thus need better filtering but the yamaha filter is not see through, so he said he could install another 10 micron filter. that one in the ...

Where to install larger 10 micron filter on M?

I recently was told by my yamaha dealer that not only had the dealer installed the wrong tach and tach harness on my 60 hp yamaha 4 stroke, but they also had not installed the inline filter. the engine was installed by a non yamaha dealer (bad idea in retrosprect) and I was informed that the yamaha ...
