Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the fee includes fresh water, and electricity too.

Up in the frigid north, renting a slip on Lake Superior at Marquette, MI cost me $1064.00 for the season. The season here begins when the ice leaves the Marquette area (I put my X in the water in May) and ends when the ice bergs force you out( I plan on pulling her home towards the end of Oct). Less...

I did something similar to my keel, used a 1/2" copper fitting to make a bushing and epoxied it in place. Seems to reduce the slop and I have had no problem after two seasons of use. I hope the image shows(my first try) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m124/wtelliott/Bushinginswingkeel2005-1....

I had mine CB out the spring of 2005 when I was applying bottom coat. It was very difficult to get it out, but I would caution against pounding. Hard, sharp pounding to something attached to fiberglass scares me. I used a steady heavy (my 212 #) push with lever made from a piece of 2 x 4. It's been ...

Sorry to hear of this unpleasant experience with "Bill". I'm glad that this Bill is not your typical Bill. I traveled to Wisc and met Bill at Boats4Sail when the wife and I were looking for a Mac. There is one helpful and friendly dealer who is not looking to make a killing on each sale. J...

I had water appearing in my 01X bilge last year. With the ballast full, the boat sat lower in the water and I discovered that the thru hull for the sink drain had a leak. The fiberglassing around the thru hull was done poorly. When the ballast was empty, the boat rode high enough in the water so wav...

I can't imagine spending that kind of $$$. I sanded, epoxied, and bottom coated my X for a fraction of that last year. This is the second year in a slip in Lake Superior and it still looks great. If people are actually getting that kind of money to bottom coat boats, I gotta get into that line of bu...

I take back the thought of an above boom furler. I didn't consider the bolt rope or sail slugs that are attached to the mast. You would have to have a system to feed the bolt rope into the mast slot and slugs would be out of the question.
Back to the drawing board...

OK, now you folks have my interest. Why couldn't a person use a standard CDI furling system to make an "above the boom" furler? It really wouldn't have to be a whole lot higher than the boom. (I'm guessing). and should behave somewhat similar to a loose footed main. I am more than willing ...

We drove 350 miles each way to pick up our new/used 2001 X. Didn't have time to take her out. I guess that I was confident in her condition after looking her over, finding the furling system still in the sealed factory boxes, finding the jib still in the bag with the factory sealing tape around the ...

Actually, PVC is not suitable for drinking water. The plastic piping in homes for drinking water is CPVC. The PVC (cream colored) and ABS (black in color) are used solely for drain/waste lines. IMHO, the flexable containers that are on the market would be safer and I don't see why they could not be ...

I applied both bottom paint and a couple coats of barrier paint last spring. I slip in Lake Superior (In my opinion the cleanest of the Great Lakes as well as the coldest). Where the bottom was painted I had no algae at the end of summer, but on the rudders where I had not applied a bottom coat, the...
