So Long
Well, I sold my. :macx: Saturday. I now have a Westerly 32 Renown to work on. Its been great learning from you all and I hope to see you out on the water some day. I told the new owners about this website, so maybe they will join if they haven't already done so. They are from Savanah Georgia. ...

Re: Boat Value
I think 14k is a fair starting price. I just over hauled the steel trailer with new drum brakes (galvanized backing plates), new galvanized rims with new tires, new u bolts and backing plates for the springs. The trailer is ready to haul anywhere. I push the fact that #1 a 9 year old 50 hp motor doe...

Boat Value
Here's the question. What do you guys think is the value of a 2002 :macx: is with a 8hp motor? The boats I see for sale all have large engines. The boat itself is in pretty good shape, no major problems. Here are the other specs. jib, jenoa, main in good condition (no furler system or main sail cove...

Re: MARINA FIRE IN NC!
They're pretty sure it was electrical, but no way to conclude exactly what happened. The initial source is laying on the bottom of the creek under the tin roof of the building. Any kind of fire, explosion or no explosion, would burn out of control on those old docks. Some of them were nerve racking ...

Re: MARINA FIRE IN NC!
At least one sail boat, 2 masted, was severly damaged. Some of the locals said it could be repaired but it will take alot of work. The hull is severly burned on the inside. They will resume cleanup tomorrow.

Re: MARINA FIRE IN NC!
I work for local law enforcement and was there to assist in security. The entire marina was closed off to the public. Its amazing how people act when you tell them they can't go check on their boat. Even people who's boats were on the other side of the marina. We had 3 complaints on one guys driving...

Re: Best outboard and Size
VIctor, Thanks for the invite. I actually have met Eric, but the last time I saw him and his boat, it had a 60 on it. That was back several months ago. I need to get the wife out to see the potential of the boat when outfitted right. When the admiral's happy, everyones happy :). I'm thinking I might...

Re: Best outboard and Size
Victor, I was actually interested in finding someone to do a "ride along" with to see the potential. I live in Beaufort County NC. There aren't a whole lot of macs around here. There are two :macm: 's here, one with a 50 2 stroke and one with a 60 4 stroke. I haven't been on the one with t...

Re: Best outboard and Size
Started talking to different dealers today. I was told by my nearby Evirude Dealer that the 75 and 90 are vertually the same size engine and can be purchased for around the same price. The 90 weighs 320-335 and the 75 is 320 ibs. The 60 is 240-25 ibs. The prices I getting, including install are arou...

Re: Best outboard and Size
I was actually interested in the new Evinrude 2 stroke, but the dealer seemed to think they were complicated with multiple computer systems. My main concern is the speed difference between the 60, 70, and 75 hp motors. If they are basically the same I will get the 60. I want to be able to do more cr...

Best outboard and Size
Please forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse with this question. I want to purchase a new outboard for my :macx: and have some questions. I'm interested in getting the best deal and best size for the money. The guy I'm talking to is pushing a Honda 60 or 70. I was leaning toward a 70 or 75 Hp motor...

Re: Water Ballast and -7c (19F)
No weight problems that Im aware of. I only have an 8hp Johnson and 1 fuel tank. Inside there are no heavy mods or extra batteries. I have left my ballast vent and valve open before and by the time I remembered it, water was gathering in the overflow basin. I would not feel comfortable leaving my bo...

Re: Water Ballast and -7c (19F)
Dido, Further to all the above, my suggestion would be for you to leave open the tail gate and the bleeding valve. If water freezes then this will be the escape route for the greater ice volume. Just a thought, as I have no experience with ice conditions on boats. Good luck, Octaman 8) If I leave m...
