Re: 26x changed to new mast raising system

Doing some more research I see where it originated with the "Johnson Bar" ... I just need to find a source for the "Johnson adjustable lever" :?: :?: - can I get it at my local marine store The Chandlery http://www.thechandleryonline.com/index.php ... like the idea of slacking th...

Re: 26x changed to new mast raising system

Oh that's a bail :?

Where do I find "Johnson Lever"?? ... tried a Google search and got nothing :( ... sounds like a much better solution than a BWY backstay tensioner or using a ss turnbuckle.

Thanks
David

Re: 26x changed to new mast raising system

Thanks for all the replies - much wiser now :)

Couple of questions: What is a 'Johnson lever' :?: What is a bail/bale that you attach to the mast :?: - is this a bail snap shackle :?:

Re: 26x changed to new mast raising system

Thanks to Bob and Alan for replying. Think I need to clarify my original post --- I do not have a 26 :macx: MRS --- we have been raising the mast by hand. The 26 :macx: MRS is no longer available so we are looking at getting a 26 :macm: MRS not the BWY system. My question is specifically in ref to u...

Re: 26x changed to new mast raising system

We have been raising our mast on our 2001 26X for years but we are getting older and thought we would get a MRS! Does the 26M MRS 'raising pole' bolt onto the 26X mast base without any mods? Does the 26M MRS come with the two 'baby stays'? Are they similar to the ones on the normal 26X rigging? We a...

Re: Stiff Steering on 2002 26X

I have been meaning to put up a response on the forum … I installed a Uflex Racktech 10’ – could have used an 8’ one but the 10 allows for wider turn radius of the cable which is always better … install went very smoothly though there were a few small challenges enroute … the steering now is incredi...

Re: Roller Furler

We are the new owners of a 2001 26X.

We find that feeding the jib into the furler is difficult as the line within the furler seems to stick.

Is their some sort of lubricant (i.e. spray white grease) that can be used so that the rope and the metal piece moves more smoothly?

Re: steering linkage

I'm also a new owner of a 2001 26X with very stiff steering :( Having looked at all the numerous threads on this subject and after regreasing both ends of the steering system with negligible improvement, I have ordered a new rack & pinion steering system vs one day having the same thing happen t...

Re: Stiff Steering on 2002 26X

I'm all set to replace my existing Detmar R&B and am trying to decide between the Teleflex SS141 Rack or the Uflex Racktech. I have read on multiple threads that the replacement Teleflex R&P is longer than the original Detmar one and is a tight fit and the new hole for the steering wheel is ...

Re: Stiff Steering on 2002 26X

I'm the new owner of a 2001 26X ... my steering was stiff and I lubed both ends as described in multiple threads on this forum ... R&P gears looked OK and there was some corrosion on the stern end which I removed and then lubed ... this didn't really help much so I assume the inside of the cable...

I also would like to find a source for these 'white plugs' :?: :?: :?: I'm the owner of a 2001X and have a number of these white plugs missing throughout the boat. I have a ss grab handle to install above the boarding ladder and intend to cut holes for access ... prior to cutting any access holes I'...

Re: Swim Ladder Handle

I have a ss boarding handle which I plan to install about 24" above my Railmaker boarding ladder (between port rudder & OB). Question #1: What size of hole do I need to cut (saw on a posting that 1 3/4" was adequate) to be able to put on the nut and washer :?: ... I'm new at this type ...
