Re: Where are the "old guard" of this forum?

I sold my 2001 26X (Aquadawg) 2 years ago, due to health issues. I still think about that boat and good memories frequently, as I had that set up perfect for me (70Yammie,. 9.9 kicker, aluminum dual axle trailer, etc). I don't check in on the forum very often, but I hope everyone is enjoying their b...

Boat: Just remember that they put alcohol (ethanol) in gasoline to protect your system from water and it will make more sense,

I'm not sure what you mean about this? The best way to protect your system from water is to use non-ethanol gas.

Re: Nissan propeller verbage

Nissan and Tohatsu were made by the same company (Tohatsu). Search that Tohatsu number for specs. or you can look at these sites:

https://www.rubexprops.com/propulsion/prop-finder/

Thanks. I've used Excel so many years that (for me) is easy to use.

Re: Wiring Boat - Best place to get diagrams?

I've used Excel for decades, so I just used it for interconnecting and text. i copied and pasted other parts/symbols from general web image searches or the manufacturer.

Then you can pdf it or make a jpg out of it.

A viable alternative is the Yamaha F70. Only weighs 254 lbs. It gives a HUGE improvement over a 50, yet weighs almost the same.

Re: Gas additives for 4 stroke OB's

Seafoam is a mixture of Naphtha, Pale oil, and isopropyl alcohol. For me it has worked great as a "spring cleanout" additive for outboards and other small motors. For storage, most people use a non-alcohol additive. I usually use Startron or Stabil. It's worked great for me. Getting non-et...

Re: Max Horsepower for '01 26 x

There is no "maximum HP" plaque on a Mac (at least the 26Xs). The manufacturer gave RECOMMENDED HP ratings, and gave an explanation in their brochures of why they chose those recommendations. They had nothing to do with safety. Weight of motor, easier to pull start, uses less fuel. They we...

Re: New to me 2001 Mac 26X

I originally put a 5 hp kicker on my now-sold boat. That was WAY underpowered. I had my outboard dealer put a Garelick heavy duty o/b bracket on, which can take up to a 15 hp or more, but I put a 9.9 hp Merc on it. That EASILY pushed to boat to hull speed even in winds and currents. Here's a pic of ...

Re: Help with pricing the sale of my 1997 26X

Those prices you saw in Craigslist are asking prices, not selling prices. I just sold my 2001 X two weeks ago for $19000 (plus 2k for an almost new kicker). My X was never stored in water, I had bought a new Yamaha 70 in 2014 with few hours on in, and I had a 2010 dual axle aluminum trailer with new...

Re: Winter fuel additive?

I love Seafoam for a "spring cleaner" in my outboards, lawnmower, and generators. But, since it has Isopropyl Alcohol in it I don't use it for storage. I use Startron with good results for that. Stabil also will work great. Here's a link on fuel additives, and they state it's best to use o...

Sad Day

I've been boating for many decades, and even retired from the USCG Reserves. Due to health issues, I am putting my 2001 MacX up for sale. I haven't been able to use it for over 3 years. What's especially sad for me is that I finally got it into that "perfect for me" category, as I have a Y...

Russ, Jescar looks pretty good. Another alternative is RejeX, which is also a ploymer. You can find it on Amazon, and is a little less expensive. I've been using it on my boat and vehicles the last couple years, and I'm impressed with it.

Re: Suzuki DF60AV or DF90A ?

I have the Yamaha F70, and did not install any wedges. I don't have any issues. I wonder if that's more because of the differences in the M and X, or because the Suzie F70/90 is a little over 80 lbs heavier???
