I think it's worth to try "SeaClear". it's a FREE!! swiss softwarepackage , availebel via internet URL: www.sping.com/seaclear the software uses raster-charts, either BSB/KAP or GEO/NOS and it has a tool "MapCal" to convert and adjust other raster formats (BMP,GIF,PNG,TIF,JPG,PCX...

That "single point of failure" is a good reason to be concerned of.
To avoid the danger of a falling mast I installed a second (forward)
pair of lower shrouds with pelican-hooks .

have a look at the swim-ladder ; if it's down it interferes with the rudder.

cutting the mast

i would not cut the mast, but install a mast-lowering/-raising-equipment,
which can be fully operated from the cockpit.
