Re: Jack lines for a macgregor

Jacklines is a good idea, when singlehanding i hook on to the lifelines on the windward side but that is no good when the boat rolls from side to side. I have experiented with how to avoid rolling when drifting àround either fishing or stowing the sails. I pull the centerboard all the way up, and ru...

Re: Boat Cover for Winter

I purchased a cover from sailorstailor 5 years ago, and I am wery happy with it. Expensive? yes but after 5 years in eastern Canada with winds up to 100km/hr on a regular basis, and sometimes lots of snow, it is still on good condition only 4-5 snaps are damaged and easily repaired. My boat is cover...

Re: Yet another powersailor

The trouble with a large outboard on a sailing boat is that mounted on the stern, it’s exactly where you don’t want the weight, spoiling trim and increasing pitching. It can be made to work using a powerboat hull shape, with a deeply submerged transom to support the weight of the engine. Until now,...

Yet another powersailor

Swallow yachts in England announce a new line of 3 powersailors from 21 - 29 feet . I am not sure aboat the steering but it looks like they are using the rudder when motoring. If You have a large rudder that gives good control. would it be too big for motoring at 15 knots? I like the center mounted ...

Re: New hoses for water drain

I replaced the hoses with that vinyl hose this last winter, 'When I removed the old original hose it just broke off as soon as I touched it. For safety I will change it every 5 years fron now on, and check it every year. I will kink the hose and if it begin to get hard I will change it. The drain ou...

Re: Rudder breakage, failure, fixes, ECT.

I have broken three rudder bolts and bent the brackets, finally a few years ago I replaced the bolts with 1/2" bolts and I installed bushings in the rudder. There was a lot of slop in the rudders because the holes was too big. I think that the rudders should be tight on the bolts without any slop, i...

Re: 26m during winter on the lake... Danger with through hul

:D

Quiet and a bit slow i am,,
The '" whale" pump should be a good choice, and Your location under the starboard seat is good too,
Should have no problem to pick up suction from there.

Re: 26m during winter on the lake... Danger with through hul

hi everyone! I'm a bit late in this discussion, but that's how I am. I'm a quiet guy :) . however I think I should come with a warning about placing the bilge-pump too high up from the bottom of the boat. (the cockpit level is too high) Most pumps are really bad at sucking air, and that's what the p...

Re: New Yanmar 50p diesel

But these days you have to be green,, maybe I should paint the boat green and install a Torqueedo? Only 23999$US plus batteries, and it only weigh 462kg (1018,53444pound) and it has an autonomy of 30 min at WOT with 2 batteries, and what about this: "Low-maintenance system: switching makes sense fro...
