What About Laptop Based GPS-NAV systems?
Pardon this naive question, But aquaintances of mine have mentioned a laptop program/system which enables you to connect a GPS to your machine. The systen provides downloadable charts, It lets you know where you are, and you can use your mouse to plot and save your exact position at any moment, on a...

What About the Loose Cleats and Possible Balsa Core Rot?
Folks,
As an afterthought, I realized that nobody has yet addressed the issue of the loose, forward cleats, and if that might indicate water having leaked below the deck, rotting the balsa core deck that comes with all pre 1999 X models.
Any thoughts on that?
Much thanks, once again,

Thanks guys ...
... So what I get out of this discussion so far is that, since other folks have witnessed something similar in their own boats which has not caused great problems, we can assume that it is a minor design or manufacturing flaw. That is some relief, because it potentially rules out the possiblility th...

Roger Mac Gregor's take is ...
... that you will lose one mph of speed under power for every 100 lbs you add to the Mac 26 X. This is from "Practical Sailor", and their interview with Roger Mac Gregor shortly after the original launch of the 26 X. Just Google Practical Sailor, MacGregor, for more. Seems like Roger ought...

Exposed Seam on forward, starboard side ...
Ahoy threadmates, I am looking at a 26x for sale in Asia. The boat is a 1998 model, but it looks OK except for a couple of details. The first is that, if one pulls up all the cusions and looks at the interior hull, there seems to be a seam just forward of the main cabin area, on the starboard side, ...

Thanks Matt ...
... that was my take on both the X and M. Some threads I have read have noted the X as a "revolutionary" design, but that the M did not match up, for various reasons. Ironically, I contacted the head of international dealerships in California, and this person wrote back that the MacGregor ...

Re: Can the X be Coast Guard Documented?
Matt, Thanks for your reply. Just out of curiosity, do you consider the M hull to be a sailboat hull as opposed to the X being a planing hull. This seems important if I am going to go through the USCG documentation process for the X, when the M is the most recent design. I'm worried that the USCG mi...

Why Document an X with the USCG and who has?
Thanks threadmates for your many responses. Sorry I have not responded sooner, but I thought that I would be notified (via email) of any responses on this thread. Since I have never received any such notification, apparently I was mistaken, so please accept my apologies. To address some points and c...

Can the X be Coast Guard Documented?
Hello threadmates, Couldn't find a thread that fit exactly my concern, so I figured, with everyone here talking about various out-of-country destinations, this might be the best place to ask. In particular, I am wondering if anyone knows whether a MacGregor X can be Coast Guard documented, and if an...
