Re: Dodger Design for 26M
I Have a 26X and would have used the wide dodger from BWY but based on where deck hardware and a nicrovent is located it did not work, so I did my own from the sailrite kit. We have done other sailrite projects including bimini, sacrificial headsail cover, stackpack and pedestal cover, this was the ...

Re: Swing Keel rope replacement
Whgoffrn’s suggestion is the easiest way. I have never detached the centerboard to replace the line. Tape the end of the old rope to the new one in the cockpit and just pull it from underneath. I tie the bitter end of the new rope to the mast and use the extra length to do the figure 8 knot while I ...

Re: Second Battery location
As to the panel, I would not put it on the aft-facing surface of that seat cavity. Stuff back there tends to slide around, and you can't see there without sticking your head in there anyway. I have my two-bank battery charger there, and I have to be careful about not letting cockpit cushions lay up...

Re: Second Battery location
I have the bus bar, fuse panel and Perko switch on the aft side of the seat where you have the battery. My other batteries are on the settee in front of the galley. With the electric fridge I have two house batteries forward plus a starter battery in the original location.

Re: Size and type of water tank
I have a Plastimo 13 gallon water tank under the forward settee. Yes, it is not used for drinking but washing. It is connected to an electric water pump to the sink in the galley, head and transom shower. I remove the tank once a year and clean it at home. I also add small parts of Chorine tablets e...

Re: Ready for spring and summer
I think your missing the point, America is supposed to be the bastion of the "Free World" yet its gun murder rate is over 54% of that in Mexico (USA 3.5 / 100,000 population, against Mexico 6.4/100,000) . While I'm sure some of Mexico is "First World" the greater majority is &qu...

Re: Ready for spring and summer
Not getting into politics, but just stating figures, the number of gun deaths in Mexico is just about on a par with the USA historically USA 10.45 deaths / 100,000 people Mexico 11.23 deaths / 100,000 people https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate those figures...

Nice trailer, do the spare tires help to guide the boat back into the trailer?
Any chance that the hitch is too high and that is why your back tires are rubbing?

Re: Epirb vs sat phone
I rented an epirb from BoatUS when I crossed to Bimini last year. If/when I do it again I will buy a personal locator beacon for the boat. This is really an extra level of precaution if the DSC on the VHF cannot be used. I would rent a "bahamian" sim card for communications for a longer tr...

could you use the old one as a pattern to make one yourself? That is what we did with ours, we did not have the zippers for an enclosure, but you can get those from sailrite.
