Re: I'm an A/C convert
How cool is the water where you overnight? This is an example of the product i was describing... http://www.cabincooler.eu I would venture that someone who is handy could make something functionally similar at low cost from “recycled” parts. I have an idea of how to do it, but I couldn’t use one in...

Re: 3D modelling of MacM
I did up a modle a while back, Someone, . FORGIVE ME I can't remeber who, was nice enought to take a ton of photos and then I used what is called "photography" software to create the 3d model form that. It worked, but at the time there were a lot of limits on the resolution of the camera a...

LED lights for cabin and navigation.
Okay,m I tried the search, but it was coming up with too many things, my apologies in advance. So 2 questions. 1) I had to take out the interior lights because they had all rusted and shorted out .. so suggestions on replacements? 2) has anyone replaced the red/green/white nav lights with LEDS? I se...

Re: Adding Solar
Well firstly , power is power.. so there is ultimately very you don't NEED higher voltage to use MPPT, however -- you can also get a 24 v panel, rather then 12 v. Note these are just the "class " of the panel,. a 12 v can put out 18 v open circuit. I would say that once you are using over ...

Re: 12 volt cooler or refrigerator
Has anyone used an inverter and a dorm fridge? or small chest freezer? You will get the loses of the inverter, do you come out ahead. wish there was a 500$ or less compressor solution. Right now I have a colemen cooler.. and it COOLS only , . doesn't get cold though. I think I might do some tests wi...

Re: 12 volt cooler or refrigerator
I hear you Neo et al .. seems lie ther ehsoud be a clever solution , but there isn't .. The only , .. quick, reasonable mod I can think of is to add some water cooling to a thero electric unit. I think "sailing uma" has a commercial unit that works this way , . but these are expensive. I t...

Re: 12 volt cooler or refrigerator
I wish I understood the limits of the thermoelectic devices better, as well as the efficiency curves and stuff. I think they might fit the mac "philosophy" pretty well. You can buy the units on ebay, and even temperature sensors and stuff as well. and BUILD the system for like 20-30$. You ...

Re: Adding Solar
See inline comments So, ignoring the $25 "MPPT" solar charge controllers from unknown Amazon sources, here are a few of my questions: those, as I assume you know with the quotes you used, are fake mppt. Question 1: PWM or MPPT? Comparing two good quality controllers, the PWM is about half ...

Re: New Yanmar 50p diesel
If I had that much money to spend-I would go for the Torqueedo 80hp http://www.torqeedo.com/us/en-us/products/outboards/deep-blue/deep-blue-80-r/M-3201-00.html Anybody have any experience with torqueedo? and 28 bateryies ... no really , .. I think it really does require 28 12 volt batery, or 56+/- ...

Re: Portable Cooler
I did notice.. just putting information in here, for future visitors that read through the thread. TLDR; compressor units beat thermo-electric by a long shot. Sailing UMA installed a themo-electric cooler in to custom fridge, their unt is $$$ and is liquid cooled from water. I think pretty much any ...

Re: Portable Cooler
I am looking for a compressor style one ... It seems the thermo-electric ones all have about the same stats.. with respt to cooling. I have a coleman, .. and it seems like it jsut runs 24X7, I don't kno if it has a low temp shut off. , if it does I have never seen it turn on. IF you get one(Coleman)...

Ever move a Mac 26x/m with a quad or ATV?
Hello All, I am still looking for solutions to solve my issues with getting the boat in and out of my tight back yard ... Has anyone here moved one of these sized boats with a quad or ATV? Have you ever pushed it uphill? Was it in reverse or forward?
