I concur, I would miss this site if it ended - too many good people :( And the mods portion isn't working for me either. :o

Re: What will you miss most about your Mac when you size up to another boat?

Hi all, haven't signed on in a while...thought the site was gone and I was genuinely blue about it. Fantastic people. I re-stumbled on it last night while looking for engine specs for the Mac :macx: My work has kept me away - but the potential energy of the X sits there under a cover I've sewn out o...

I did this mod on my 26x a few years ago. Looks similar. I used heim joints. 8)

Visiting Seattle weekend of 10/4-5/2014 - Anyone Sailing?

I am doing two weeks in Seattle for my employer (one guess - starts with a B) and I will be at loose ends on the 4th and 5th of October 2014. Anyone sailing? I have no clue as to whether your season is over or not. I am basically a puddle pirate from Phoenix and being closer to a real ocean other th...

Re: Hard Dodger?

That to me looks like a hard top bimini over the companionway and not a true dodger unless they have sides and front that are snapped into place to deflect spray and rain while underway. I would rather have a regular dodger instead of giving up the main sheet traveler that I see is missing in these...

Re: Mac 26 Missing from SAIL Magazine article on Pocket Crui

SAIL magazine is more focused on selling new product (IMHO). They don't know about the 'Tattoo' product yet. :)

I am planning now. Here are some interesting sources, not always the cheapest , but very interesting. <www.mockett.com> great selection of interesting pulls and handles very designer-ey <www.hafele.com/us/> Very technical and interesting cabinetry hinge and handle solutions, European company. Euro s...

Re: THOSE AFT BERTH HATCHES SUCK! THIER GONE!

I have used the sticky back Velcro solution for two years now with no problems. To me, the key is to use a good product and prepare the surfaces correctly. Even the good stuff will relent in the Arizona heat and then an adhesive slime captures all of the nearby crud. I love the stuff but, ha...

I borrowed this bridle Idea three weeks ago, just before an outing. $10 of hardware and spare line and you are done. It is simple and works well! 8)

Re: New Galley cook top

I looked up the pricing, this is an appealing solution for an occasional user, the butane stoves are really inexpensive. Your storage precautions are the way to go. :)

Re: New Galley cook top

Nice! Well thought out. The cafeteria at my place of work uses these at times. They'll cook up a stir fry on them. The cartridges look like a spray can.

Questions: How long will they operate at full flame before needing replacement? How will you store the cartridges?

Re: X pedestal side panels

Rivnuts will be unsatisfactory, in the fiber matrix they will likely eventually break loose and then spin in place, making them (and the attached screw) difficult to remove without damaging the surrounds. I use aircraft nutplates for that kind of install. I used them for the 2' x 3' big pocket fasci...

Re: Mac Trawler....

Dude that's seriously awesome, I've always wondered if that might be an option to just leave the mast and rigging at home and just make it a cruiser :). That is what we do in Arizona. We sail in winter at Lake Pleasant; a good sailing lake. We remove the rigging for the summer and do the beautiful ...

Re: Batteries

3 years in Arizona is the limit of trust (standard lead acid). After that you are on borrowed time.

With the new Optima's I'll advise when I know :)

It is the same for trailer tires BTW (in AZ).
