Hawkeye recommends testing any location by putting the transducer in a ziploc bag of water and putting that against the hull to ensure it will shoot thru the spot before doing anything permanent.

I have this unit. Display is installed in bulkhead to the right of the companionway. Transducer used to be on the transom but it was unreliable and the bracket kept breaking. Finally glued it to the hull in the area aft of the head (26X). Very reliable now

I run it on an Samsung 8" tablet with cellular and my S21 with one account. I can also log in to the web based chart viewer on my PC. Great for route planning and the routes available on all devices.
