I think it was called a 'Venture' back then.

Re: 26M fuel tank
If anyone wants my old plastic tanks they can have them for free. Just send someone to pick them up, I don't want them anymore. Or maybe you guys know of a place that will box them up and ship them for you. If you want them you can have them.

Re: 26M fuel tank
Yes, I grounded the tanks to the negative terminal of the battery and also to the equipment ground bus on the 120V AC panel. Because the tanks are a conductor you could in theory electrically energize them by getting the boat soaking wet so that your shore power plug (if not properly grounded) would...

Re: Origo stove caution
Boat: Just remember that they put alcohol (ethanol) in gasoline to protect your system from water and it will make more sense, I'm not sure what you mean about this? The best way to protect your system from water is to use non-ethanol gas. Yeah, captain free kind of covered this but I was talking a...

Re: Origo stove caution
I have a useless education in biologicals chemistry of the brain because of my BS in Behavioral Science. (Waste of time) Acetone is a KETONE. Not really a carbon like the TANES of butane and propane and such but it is organic like ethanol alcohol so it can be mixed with water. The acetone chain is t...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
Hey Chumpy, I don't know where the other guys are - I have been waiting for them to review your drawing cuz they know the best. Not sure where they are. It all looks pretty good to me but I think you should wait to see what they say cuz they are smarter than me. I would wonder if it's okay to attach...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
Will recalculate The over current protection. As for shore power, yes at some point. At the least I’d like to run an extension cord and use a noco charger on the batteries. I’m not quite sure how to incorporate a loxkg shorepiwer plug into this system. Anyone know? Thx! Hey Chumpy, You got the real...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
The battery is 100ah with BMs 50a maximum discharge current of 50a Okay, there is your problem right there. Now I understand why the BattleBorn guy did not want me to use his lithium batteries to start motors. 50 amp just aint enough - when a motor is cranking over and over you need almost all the ...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
Not sure - that's what the battery guys told me but then it could be that the motor is a 60 hp motor and it requires a lot of power to turn it over. SO I can only say that the lithium is no good for starting my large motor but I really don't know if it's okay for chumpys motor. I'm not much of an e...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
Why won’t a LiFePO4 start the motor? They are used as direct replacements (size for size) for powersports batteries all the time. Not sure - that's what the battery guys told me but then it could be that the motor is a 60 hp motor and it requires a lot of power to turn it over. SO I can only say th...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
B2B charger means Battery To Battery charger. It allows you to send a separate voltage to another battery bank without changing the way you charge the primary battery. That way you can have a lead battery for starting and lithium for cabin. I recommend you run your solar panel choice by the guys at ...

Re: Solar install - Check my work?
Don't see the circuit for charging the batteries from the outboard or the circuit for charging the batteries from AC. Not sure the outboard is going to output the proper voltage for a lithium battery - lithium batteries usually need a stepper box or B2B to charge from the motor. 400 of solar is way ...

Re: Anyone Have A Polar File for the M boat?
Yes Bill, you are as usual very correct and very helpful. It's important that I remember the advice from folks like Ammiraglio and you so I don't go overboard trying to tune up my computer software too much. Ever since I got an autopilot (so many years ago now) it seems that I get obsessed with tryi...

Re: Anyone Have A Polar File for the M boat?
Just a few points to consider: A polar is only valid for a given set of sails. A polar is strictly valid for steady conditions, e.g., steady wind and flat water. Any point on a polar is really for a specific sail trim, so it should really be a "blob". For any value of wind speed and angle...

Re: Anyone Have A Polar File for the M boat?
Hmmm . . Things have changed over the years. I have been using navigation software for quite some time. There are some really expensive iridium sat programs to help find the best course through the wind as you plan a long leg from say, Long Beach to Hawaii. These systems give you the wind direction ...
