Re: A few random questions

but be warned, anchor questions are the proverbial, forum rabbit hole :? :D we all have different ideas and opinions on the matter. personally, i would rather have more anchor , and full nights of sleep. But of course this all depends on your conditions, weather and time of year etc and each ...

Re: A few random questions

we are up here in the PNW of canada. we have deep, narrow anchorages with every type of bottom, round rocks, pea gravel, mud, sand, silt, lots of grass and kelp. best anchors i have found are a plow anchor, they seem to hold really well in all bottoms - i got my 25# plow anchors for $50 canadian a p...

Re: daggerboard 26m

another option would not to make a male plug and then a female mold. i might shape the profile in pu foam ( surfoard foam) then glass over itwith epoxy and woven cloth, final filler coat, and then waxed gelcoat spray on. would be the cheapest, unless you can borrow another board from someone, and ma...

Re: Motor well scupper.

i had the same problem, even very small debris would block the factory setup. and if you tried to back flush it with a hose, it would take the path of least resistance- and blow back into the sink i put a thru hull in the well, and put a new thru hull next to the sink one on the transom, dedicated s...

Re: Resin

x2 Doesn’t matter what the boat is made from, use epoxy. Poly won’t make a good bond (it will fail after a few years) vinyl works a little bit better but epoxy is the only thing you should be using when adding onto cured resin, no matter the composition. Use a thickener like coloidial silica for str...

Re: Trailer sailor

WOW!!! thats a lot of boat! truly beautiful- if i had the extra $$ i wouldnt hesitate! like all of our boats, lots of pros and cons. youre getting what you pay for, but my :macm: got me on the water quicker, on a lower budget- and i can mod and improve as i go along- at the end of the day- i would s...

Re: Best way to shorten CDI furler?

i shortened mine a bit when i put my new bow roller on, and i did it my adjusting the bolt at the furler, however- doing it again, i would use the opportunity to upgrade the shroud to a heavier duty one, made to your exact length required and get it swaged professionally. still with some adjustabili...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel

for absolute fear of starting another anchoring thread :D i will refrain from too much detail, but this is one of the reasons i love my version of the Bahamian moor!- little different from how most set it up. it does not replace a stern anchor system, but the boat will swing to the strongest prevail...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel

yer welcome mate, its just what works for me, i have a daggerboard in my boat, i am quite wary of getting the foils stuck, and i just feel reducing the clearances may contribute to that- with some gunk in there- doesnt even need to be sea growth, but the noise can be annoying, its the best solution ...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel

heres what i would do. same as on my :macm: deploy the foil, tie a line to the gunwale, about midships, walk the line around, on the outside of the shrouds, go under the bow, all the way down the other side, ( lift rudders and motor) and back to the starting point, pull the line up snug and tie it o...
