Re: Hull damage to 26x on port side...
I haven't shot any pictures personally, I asked skipper to send me some, but he hasn't yet. I may try to swing by today and snap a few to post up. I need to do some finishing touches with the trailer and a mast support before we trailer it any further than our neighborhood boat slip. Apparently the ...

Re: Hull damage to 26x on port side...
Well, a little over a month ago we floated the boat and all the repairs were water tight. We had issues with the carbs and fuel system so we didn't take it out that day. I had taken apart and cleaned the carbs before that outing and we had drained the fuel from the tanks by siphoning it out, but app...

Re: Canyon Lake, TX July 11-15
I never did update this thread, I guess because I had posted another about carb issues. We got the patch work completed on the boat in time, but couldn't get the 50hp Tohatsu in running order and tested in time for the trip. Once the trailer repairs and patch work were done I brought the boat to my ...

Re: Tow to Virginia Beach from Kentucky or rent?
Do you guys really get 450 lbs of tongue weight on your MAC's? How are you measuring that? We just had to "rebuild" our 26x factory trailer due to rust issues. We replace the entire tongue tubing with a new galvanized piece and actually extended the tongue and moved the boat forward on the...

Re: check your carbs...
Yes she had water muffs. We floated the boat today and not a hint of water other than a little rain water that was left over from the storms this week. We didn't have the inside plug for the water ballast so we didn't want to take a chance on opening it up yet. Now the problem is, the motor will sta...

check your carbs...
Sorry I didn't snap any pictures as it was after 10:30pm tonight when I removed the first carburetor from the 50hp Tohatsu on our 26x. A little background, our Sea Scout Ship got donated a 99 MacGregor 26x sailboat with 50hp Tohatsu about a month to 1.5 months ago. The previous owner was camping in ...

Re: Taking Venture 2-22 off of trailer...questions
We put some blocks and a couple of old rims/tires under the rear of our 26x and then I used a tractor with a front end loader with fork lift attachment under the bow to lift the front of the boat. Then we pulled the trailer out from under it and placed some of those square concrete blocks that are s...

Canyon Lake, TX July 11-15
Our Sea Scout Ship (Red Skies Sea Scout Ship 208 on Facebook) is going to be on Canyon Lake in Texas from July 11 through July 15th. We have 14 kids and a few parents who are getting PADI SCUBA training and Open Water certification and doing their final dive tests on July 12th. We will be staying/ca...

Re: Calendar
What if it's not really an event for Mac owners, just a small occasion? Our Sea Scout Ship 208 is planning to go to Canyon Lake, Tx staying in Potters Creek campground on July 11 through July 16. We are taking our final dive test on that weekend and hanging out and sailing the remainder of the time....

Re: Hull damage to 26x on port side...
That should buff right out. ;) That's what we're hoping LOL. I mean it's not like we're having to replace a transom. On the inside it really doesn't look that bad, so I'm thinking we build up the inside first, then sand down the inside nice and smooth and start laying fresh glass over it. I'm hopin...

Re: V bunks bs long bunks??
Trailer repair mostly complete. We added a brace/step to the front side of the winch mount/ladder/bump stop. We could see that in the past someone has winched pretty heavily and managed to bend the frame back a little, so we figured an extra brace wouldn't hurt and we may be able to mount a spare ti...

Re: Hull damage to 26x on port side...
All the yellow was spray on foam insulation. We used a big piece of vinyl and some spray foam to make a quick patch to get the boat from the guys boat slip (he had a lift at his dock and had the boat up out of the water and drained for us to patch), over to the launch where we pulled it out.
