Tell-tales

Hello,

My mainsail is lacking tell-tales. How many should I have on the main and where is the proper placement?

Thanks,

Re: Mainsail halyard rerouting

Alexis,

Getting ready to install the halyards aft kit on my 26D.

I need to look to see if I have access to the space between the the deck and the cabin liner. The instructions say I should.

Looking forward to other answers.

Re: Slip storage

Ned.

I grew up canoeing, kayaking, and rafting and they always had painters, never thought of putting them on my sailboat.

another great idea, thank you for sharing!

Re: Slip storage

Russ, Good point. I wish our Mac came with one. I'm not sure where/how to install one at this point. Another good suggestion I learned from Ray at BWY (he's awesome) is to run a line from bow cleat to stern cleat. This gives you a "handle" to grab when docking to pull the boat in. I used this the fi...

Re: Slip storage

Russ, I now have added a new goal to the summer checklist and that is fabricating a homemade rolling furler. My very favorite freeze dried food is peaches. I'm a snacker and these hit the sweet sugar craving without busting the calorie budget. Other FD favs are steaks, porkchops, mashed potatoes, la...

Re: Slip storage

They are great to deal with. What are you waiting on? I had slides added to my sail and my bolt rope relaxed. Cheryl has been fantastic to work with. It should be heading home early next week. I am very excited about the halyards aft kit I ordered. In a few weeks, I will be adding lazy jacks to tak...

Re: Slip storage

Responses to previous comments: 1) floating docks for a lake, there will be a 2 foot or so drop over the summer, but floating docks. 2) Single berth slip, so no berth mate to worry about. 3) I will be picking up pretty much every dock fender for sale on Craigslist this summer. I have a few already. ...

Slip storage

Hello, Tomorrow morning, Saudades, is getting launched and being put into a slip for the summer. I have two questions: 1) For those who moor their boats, what do you find handy to leave/keep on your boat? We freeze dry a lot of our food, so a big Yeti thermos of hot water is enough to heat/cook our ...

Re: Peak "the Generator" headsail

Seconding BWY...

Currently have sail slides being added to my sail at BWY.

So far the process has been painless. They verified my sail is not blown out, relaxed my bolt rope and are adding slides.

Sail should be done this week and back to me next week.

For those who like music while sailing

For those who like music while sailing, where are your speakers located? I have a 26D without a stereo. Tonight picked up a deal on a marine stereo with 4 marine speakers. I also have a few other marine speakers I've picked up over the years. All the sailboats I've been on seem to put speakers throu...

Re: time for some upgrades

Russ.

Thank you for that...adding lazy jacks as well.

Is that different than a down haul?

I don't have a rolling furler, but it there a way to use a down haul into a bag for my hank on jib?

Thank you,

time for some upgrades

Hello all.... Looking for some advice on qualifying some upgrades for the my 89 26D. If my sails are not blown out, I am strongly considering sending my main in to have slugs added. If I add the slugs, I am also strongly considering adding a lines aft kit so I don't have to leave the cockpit to mana...

Sailing Season Startup

Hello all, Put money down on a slip yesterday. This will be our first year with a slip. Looking forward to seeing additional sailing time. Do any of you have a season launch checklist that you use at the beginning of the season? I am taking the motor into a shop to have it repaired. Thank you, Curwen
