How tragic was my weekend?
Hello All, This weekend I bumped my outboard and it fell to the floor and cracked the "case". How tragic is this? Starboard side of motor where the motor cover attaches: https://i.postimg.cc/HjJ7qXB4/ED3-A95-C0-02-D9-4-BC2-82-EB-DB40-F52-A4340.jpg Port side of motor where the motor cover a...

Re: Tiller scraping on the laz
Had a email conversation with Todd at BWY, he said the tiller should be tightened at the rudder to keep it from flopping and sliding on the laz.

Tiller scraping on the laz
Getting ready to enjoy my first summer with an autohelm on my 26D. While setting things out last night, I realized that the tiller rests on top of the laz. The gelcoat is actually a little worn here. Has anyone done something to lift the tiller to keep it from scraping the laz? Without the autohelm,...

Re: Mounting a Raymarine ST1000 autohelm
You can see that 23.2 is at the edge of the laz. I don’t want to mount it here for two reasons. 1) I often sit on the laz and don’t want to sit on the mount that I would have to add to make the unit level. 2) I don’t like the idea of all the forces of controlling the tiller to be transferred to the ...

Mounting a Raymarine ST1000 autohelm
Hello, Purchased a Raymarine ST 1000 and now that the snow is clear, I am ready to install it. The instructions say to have the tiller pin 18 inches from the tiller pivot point and then to go 23,2 inches to the starboard side to drill the mounting pin for the pilot. This would put the Autohelm mount...

Starboard line organization
Hello all! Since running my halyards aft, the starboard side of the cabin top has become a tangled and confusing mess of lines. I am not happy with the placement of the spinlock clutches for the halyards as they are difficult to get to lock and are close too close to the winch. This is not an issue ...

Re: Thinking about Flaming Gorge
Flaming Gorge is a beautiful place. Don't want to sail there. Too many people and too many canyon walls that lead to wild winds. Strawberry Reservation is a beautiful place. We try to spent a three day weekend there every year. Lots of nooks and crannys to hide in. Wind can get wild there if you are...

Re: Pirates vs Navy sailing event
No need to launch projectiles at each other. I would be quite angry with somebody bouncing a water balloon off of the side of my hull. I can see that leading to fist fights.
If we can come up with a way to host this event, I will post the solution.

Pirates vs Navy sailing event
Hello all, I sail out of a marina that is doing a great job of building a sailing community. They have a few events each year and are working hard to build the community. Last year, I brought up the idea of having a marina vs marina event where one marina is the "pirates" and the other mar...

Re: Sea of Cortez out of Puerto Penasco
Steve,
Did you go on the trip?
What was required to cross the border and how was the sailing? We do volunteer work in Puerto Penasco and love that place. We try to get down that way twice a year.
Thanks,
Curwen

Re: Thinking about props
The boat goes back in the water in March, so I won't be able to take any SOG readings until then.
Thanks for the info!

Thinking about props
Hello, I have a 4 stroke Honda 9.9 hanging on the back of my 89 26D. I do not know if this is the motor that came with my boat. I don't know if it is a high thrust motor or a long shaft motor. I am unhappy with my speed while motoring. I usually have my throttle full wide open and I feel like I am b...

Rewire the Mast
Hello, I have an 89 26D that needs to mast rewired. The lamp cord that was used has lived past the expected life cycle. I am not getting enough power at the lights to power anything. While rewiring, I want to add an anchor light to the top of the mast. My questions are: What gauge wire to use? I hav...

"I think it's in all of the Father, Grandfather, Husband, and Uncle job descriptions, under "other duties as-assigned"... :|" I fill those roles as well, but before heading away from the dock, the crew gets the instructions....if you use it, you clean it. Potti is 5 years old, an...
