Self tacking jib
Last year I was faced with the possibility of having to do a lot of single hand sailing. Not caring about ever racing I decided to fabricate a track system for a self tacking jib. I sailed all last season with this setup and loved it. Most of my sailing days last year were in 15 to 20 mph winds, so ...

I think you made a great setup for your needs. Hard to beat the space in a Mac for overnighting.

Re: De-powering to 10-25 hp ob motor?
I have been running a 25 hp. since I purchased my boat 3 years ago, PO installed. I can run for two days on 6 gallons of gas. Top speed is about 10 knots with ballast empty. I never empty the ballast and I can still run at 8 knots with about 3/4 throttle. I have an older 3 cylinder Suzuki which I w...

Re: Stiff steering
Update! Over the weekend I replaced the complete steering system with one from BWY; I opted for the upgraded cable. Pulled out the old steering hub which I found to be very worn with a lot of play but turned freely without the cable attached. Removing the cable was a bit of a chore. Previous owner f...

Re: Stiff steering
Thanks Tom. I did look on BWY and a complete upgraded system is available in my price range, and 1/3 the cost of hydraulics. I believe that is the path I will follow.

Stiff steering
The steering on my X is getting extremely difficult. I have disconnected the link to the motor to see if it improved. And I have tried it while docked with no improvement. It is at the point now where I can no longer steer with one hand. 2001 X with original equipment. Question: Is there a way to pu...

Hey Bob
Bob here as well. Where do you keep your boat? I have an X in a slip at Harbor Island West for the season.
Kiko's Seafood truck on Friars Rd is the best seafood anywhere! Easier than fishin!

Re: Pulling a tube
Great.
I had forgot about the cleats as an option. I already have a bridle with a block for skiing for just that reason. Hit the end of the summer clearance table last year!
Thanks

Pulling a tube
This summer I will be pulling the grandkids around on a tow tube. I only have a 25hp on my X so we aren't talking about wiping around the bay, but hey they will be wet and happy!
For those who have done the same, how have you attached the tow rope to the aft end for pulling?

Re: Peak "the Generator" headsail
Another plug for BWY and Hyde. I have purchased several sails from BWY including standard jib, 150 genoa, and main for 26 D and X. No issues what so ever.

Re: New sails for my X
I have purchased a main and a 150 genoa from BWY and am very happy with them. Also heard great things about Judy B, and even though I did not purchase from her, she provided advice on my purchase.
