I always thought it was worth noting that on Lake Michigan, a "Small craft advisory" means boats less than 120 feet long.

My suggestion before considering spending any money anywhere is to hit up all of the local boat dealers and see if someone has a trailer that can be adapted to work. The bad news is that to get a really nice $1000 trailer you might have to drag it away with a rotting hulk of a boat on the top of it ...

I'd suggest investigating some local clubs , either Power Squadron if any are around, or local sailing/motoring clubs and just find someone who you can ply with beer after the fact. Knowing someone with a truck is priceless if you get some damage on a Saturday and need to haul the boat pronto.

"Who's a good doggy!!!" Problem is my idiot dog loves to swim and would be pulling the boat into the middle of the channel. However, if the ramp is not too steep this is how I prefer to launch, just tie the bow off to something on shore with about 20 feet of rope and back in, when you see the stern ...

So how comfortable are you working around batteries in general, present day fireworks notwithstanding? Without seeing a picture, I'd hazard a guess that even though it looks kinda horrible at the moment most of the time most likely you can replace the wires, the circuit protection device, and rechar...
