Re: to paint or wax topside...when is it "OK" to start thinking paint

Windancer looks pretty good for an old girl. Have you painted the deck? On the Macs I’ve been looking at in Florida, most have thinning gel coat and I’m wondering how well a DIY coating can be made to look and how well I can expect it to hold up. Additionally, what sort of prep did you do for the d...

Re: to paint or wax topside...when is it "OK" to start thinking paint

Yes, this all started with the objective of just fixing the screech when you slide the Hatch Open. It snowballed from their. If you just want to remove the hatch, their are a few posts that describe how to do it without removing the rails. My original rails were so weather worn that it was painful j...

Re: to paint or wax topside...when is it "OK" to start thinking paint

Hi DemItri, So If you are referring to the Forward and Sliding Hatch on Pawseidon, I reinstalled the forward Hatch last weekend. Before I can put the Sliding Hatch back, I need to finish making new rails. I'm making them out of Mahogany. Teak was just too expensive. Removing all the bolts is proving...

Re: to paint or wax topside...when is it "OK" to start thinking paint

Hello Herschel, I just found you post as I had the very same thought. Only one Difference, I already put caution to the wind and both my forward hatch as well as my sliding hatch are sitting in my garage while paint is currently drying. A quick re-cap of why this and why now. First last September wh...

Re: Main hatch sliding

Happy 2020 Mac Sailors, I realize this is an OLD post, but hoping I can get some additional info I cannot locate. Advanced Apologizes if I'm just overlooking this info in this or other posts. I have done searches on this in both the Forums and the NEW MODs section that just came back online, yay :) ...

Re: Decision time....How to sale my boat

You can post on Craig's List to an area that is closer to the water. For the right price, some will travel to get a deal that could not be had locally. If you are looking to donate, try your local Boy Scout Council and see if they have a Sea Scout Crew. A lot of Sea Scout crews will take a boat that...

Re: Multi-day Sailing on Lake Tahoe

Hi Brian,

No, I have been to Lake Tahoe before, both the North side and south side, but this will be my first trip with our :macx: .

I'll update the post with a trip report after I get back.

Re: Multi-day Sailing on Lake Tahoe

Are you talking about chartering or are you looking for a slip for your X? I have a weeks reservation for a slip at Tahoe Key's Marina for the week of July 10th, but I booked this like 4 months ago. I can share my research if you have specific questions.

Same here. Pulling the boat out on 7/01 for a trip up to Lake Tahoe. If you have never been to Yosemite before, you will love it. If you have been to Yosemite before, your still going to love it.

Have fun

Re: 26X Drain Hole in Head?

All, So I just heard back from the PO. Here is what he had to say. Maybe this is the same for you as it was a dealer installed option. It goes to the pump, located inside the door under the sink. The pump is supposed to pump the water out the through same hole as the sink in the head. It was dealer ...

Re: 26X Drain Hole in Head?

Thanks all fort the advise. We are taking Pawseidon on a road trip in a couple of week to Lake Tahoe and they are very strict on contamination both from Bilge and Bay water. They require a boat inspection and I actually have to have the ballast tank go through decontamination with a High Temp Water ...

Re: 26X Drain Hole in Head?

Just a quick dumb newbie question: Is that a drain hole in the floor of the head of my 2001 26X, just to port of the porta-pottie? No picture handy, but the hole itself is about the size of a dime, with a sort of maybe ¼ inch deep incuse lip about the size of a nickel around that. If it IS a drain ...

Re: Purchase Inspection Checklist 26M

That was pretty thorough Steve. Can't really think of anything to add. I will say this though, I'm patiently awaiting new videos from you and Brandy on Youtube. (hint hint) I have to be a Youtube sailor in the winter months. Yes, we have been talking about getting some new videos out. We got really...
