Re: How are you fellows faring in the record heat?

We have been experiencing extreme heat conditions in S E Queensland. Temps of 37-38 have been regularly recorded in the coastal regions with smoke haze being the most debilitating issue for the elderly. Visibility has been down to 3 nautical miles despite winds of up to 25 kts but it's raining light...

Re: Model year questions

Before I'm corrected, it should be: above and to the rear of the gally area.

Re: Model year questions

Look for a brass plate, starboard side, tramsom. Also there is one above and abaft of the stove area. From memory the laast two numerals give the build year.

Re: Sportdrive X-5 ... Ok or not for a Mac?

Of general interest but on topic, I am very happy with my Raymarine EV100. It suits the hydraulic drive and the motor sound is reassuring.

Re: Resin

After being advised by BWY the construction (everything) is by ployester resin and after further discussion with my specialist advisor ( an aerospace composits engineer), I will be using the poly system for my current repairs. Progress of the work will be posted. The boatworkstoday youtube compariso...

Resin

I am undertaking some minor repairs on my X and my specialist adviser has suggested I ask the following question:
Is the Mac X constructed using EPOXY or POLYESTER resin?
I respectfully ask for a simple answer. Thanks.

Re: Cabin slide repair

I spray sail track wax in every now and again. Happy, happy.
My only concern about the use of velcro is its susceptibility to collecting dust/sand. Ditto the sail wax but my boat lives on the water. :macx:

Re: Any tablet users for navigation

I use an iPad with DUAL GPS receiver. This is a 100% comfortable set up for me. The iPad is mounted on a off-the-shelf bracket, attached to a stainless steel tube which is a snug fit into the mount on the top of the pedestal for the mast support (trailering). X model. If things get a little wet (I h...

Re: Antifouling my hull

I have mine lifted and placed on the hard stand every two years. Every few months or so, when I beach her, I give her a nice rub on the bottom. She seems to like that as the antifoul has lasted well in salt water over light coral. Costs $1800 (Aus) all up. You get what you pay for. I service the mot...
