Re: New Orleans/Lake Pontchartrain Winter/Spring Sailing

I keep my X in a slip in Mandeville, LA and sail the Pontch almost every weekend. Not sure what you need but if you are looking to keep your boat in a slip for a bit and sail the lake the marina I am in has many available and would prob rent on a daily basis. The thing about the Pontchartrain is on ...

Re: 26S standing rigging tension

Problem is these stupid stay adjusters are a pain to use when the mast is up. I have to use that tool that slides into both and then you pull down to make the adjuster go down some. He doesn't have turnbuckles. His lowers were so loose it was like a wet noodle.

26S standing rigging tension

I have an X my buddy has an S. I noticed yesterday his standing rigging was quite loose. I searched for tension on the S uppers and lowers and could only find info for X's and M's (300 uppers 270 lowers...at least that's the consensus). Does anyone know what the tension for the S is suppose to be? I...

Re: April gulf islands sailing trip

Ah so you are in Gonzales. I live near LSU.
Sounds like an awesome trip. I hear there is some sort of cruise out of Pass Christian or somewhere around there in May.

Re: April gulf islands sailing trip

Sounds great! Maybe you told me but I forgot, which marina are you in? I'm in Colbert on the North Shore. Winds were awesome Sat and did a sail from Mandeville to Madisonville to eat at Morton's and then sailed back. I bet on the sail back I averaged 5+ knots

Re: Kicker Bracket Mount Question for the X

Makes sense but my batteries are up under the v berth towards the front. Previous owner put them their to put more weight in the front. However, starboard for the win because my water bladder is on the port side

Kicker Bracket Mount Question for the X

The mount for the auxiliary motor arrived today. It's one of those that mount to the stern and then can retract up or detract down into the water. Typical small motor mount. It will hold a 2.5HP Suzuki outboard. The motor isn't too heavy. I got the mount to carry the motor for the dinghy if ever nee...

Re: Greetings from a New X'er in Louisiana

Congrats on your boat acquisition I'm located not far from Cabela's In Gonzales. We make trips out to Lake pontchartrain , Lake Verret , and soon to Grand isle. Our trips to lake Verret are motor only catfishing trips as the average lake depth is approx. 5 ft. We will have to meet up. I think there...

Greetings from a New X'er in Louisiana

Hello all, So, I just bought a :macx: ! Funny, but it was sort of a something I have been wanting to do for about 20 years now, but life gets a hold of you. I remember the first time I saw it at a Fishing and Boating show in New Orleans in 1996. I knew I was going to own one. But at the time, I owne...
