Re: Macgregor 26M Steering wheel lock
I ordered this braking kit also, but it was not possible to mount. Did not fit. I did my own brake, easy but good working. Can make pics next time... What didn't fit any the kit? Just curious. Mine only goes in a certain way and, though it looks like I should be able to rotate 180 degrees, it doesn...

Re: How to drill and mount in compartments
I have a battery charger (which I'd like to mount in the compartment just aft of the kitchen area on my 1999 Macgregor 26X. But I'm trying to figure out how do people mount anything in these areas? It seems like what I'd drill into here is the fiberglass that is the hull. If I put a screw in here I...

Re: Macgregor 26M Steering wheel lock
Hello, again, all! So, today I was able to open my pedestal up enough to remove the steering assembly to put in the friction brake. And... more trouble. It seems my rack and pinion mountings vertical alignment won't work with the way the mounting plate and bezel were installed. The Teleflex rack and...

Re: Macgregor 26M Steering wheel lock
There’s a technical maritime engineering term for the aspect of having the throttle mounted to the Lexan access panel……” oopsie “. :o :? :D :D :? :o Putting it there saved making a hole on the starboard side of the pedestal but really made for a complicated throttle quadrant install and servicing i...

Re: Macgregor 26M Steering wheel lock
It's been a while since I installed the wheel "brake". If I recall, you will need to remove those three bolts that hold the steering to the front plate. (see below) When you do that, the mechanism will drop back and down inside the pedestal. BTW, you seem to have a left handed motor contr...

Macgregor 26M Steering wheel lock
Hi, all. I found an old thread indicating a part number for the steering wheel lock for the Mac and I ordered it. I finally had a little free time today to see if I could install it, but I've got some issues. I was able to remove the steering wheel, but the directions indicate I need to do something...

Simple mod for boat hook storage
I ordered some 3M command solutions for mop storage and set them up at the cabin top near the companionway. Easy to reach, but out of the way.

Re: When to replace/repair your trailer?
How much rust did you find on the tongue of the trailer? Inside? Why was it hard to reinstall? A lot of rust is present. Most is superficial surface rust, but I do have one hole that perforated through. The interior of the square tubing also had a fair amount of delamination rust. It was hard to re...

When to replace/repair your trailer?
I have a 26M with aluminum trailer and surge brakes. The brakes no longer activate and the steel tongue is pretty corroded. I recently made the mistake of trying to remove/clean the rust off the tongue and had a nightmare of a time trying to get it reinstalled onto the trailer. I only drive a short ...

Anyone else have a 26M with a locked (non-rotating) mast?
So, I bought my Macgregor 26M last year and have had a modest amount of issues come up that has limited my ability to sail. With the boat, the major issue was the broken motor trim hydraulic cylinder. Most other issues were personal, split between lack of free time (me) and lack of available crew to...

Re: Fuel leaks after use or refilling
Hi, all. I was referring to the male barb quick disconnect fittings on my fuel tanks. Moeller 033400-10 Johnson/Evinrude Male Fuel Tank Connector - 1/4" NPT https://a.co/d/iL8GyxG When I fill the tanks, or move them when they're full, the fuel will leak out of these if they're not connected. I ...

Fuel leaks after use or refilling
Hello, friends. In my old 2008, my fuel tanks have the quick connect barbed fittings in the fuel lines for Evinrudes. When I top off or disturb the tanks in any meaningful way, the firings will start to slowly leak fuel. What can be done? I disconnect both when I return home, but even if I left one ...

Re: Trailer Jack Repair
I bought a swivel jack, but I didn't care for it. I know a lot of people removed their jacks but, for me, I've found it's easier to take off the jack wheel to keep everything compact it tow mode.
It works better with a spare tire mount, to me.
