Re: WELCOME BACK!

Hey Kevin, old members and new! I’ve been on the site for 14+ years under this name (add some under a slightly different name) and got such great advice from you and others. Really looking forward to touching base with any old members and meeting new ones! Our Mac is now heavily modified! I’ve real...

Re: How to get to the aft cleat / mount a freshwater inlet nerby

I'm not sure what a bb cleat is. :?: If your drilling holes for a fitting you can check out this link/tutorial. https://www.wakemakers.com/resources/how-to-drill-fiberglass-and-install-thru-hull-fittings/ If you need to access the area you can always install an inspection hatch which will give you a...

Re: transom mods and info please. new engine install.

Hello Kevin...I can't recall the thickness of the transom when I drilled the holes for my Honda BF50D...I'm guessing at least 1"thick. Someone feel free to correct me. Why steel for a back plate? Steel is heavy and your already proposing a 115 HP otbd which is no light weight. The function of the pl...

Re: Dreaming About Haida Gwaii

Congratulations on your circumnavigation of Vancouver Island by the way. I enjoy reading your blogs. Are you dealing with currents also when crossing the Hecate Strait? I suppose it could turn into a waiting game until the weather window opens up. If you like seafood then the scallops on the haida g...

Re: Electrical issues on my 26M

I have it figured out. I had some electrical lines that were suspicious, changed them out and it corrected the issues. I swear Mr Macgregor used household lamp wire when these boats were manufactured. :( The original wire must have been built to marine code or compliance you would think. Proper tin...

Re: Water in Bilges Still

I know the chain plates have already been covered where you mentioned in a previous post that you applied silicone. See my fix in the following thread. http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=26785&sid=89c337814a797d2c78a7a6898928eb4b To confirm that you fixed the common chain plat...

Re: IS THIS POST GOING TO POT?

I can't comment for the :macm: however my only complaint for the :macx: is that it sits too low on the floor. I assume this is the :macx: original in the pic :?: Its been adequate for a couple over nighters we've done and a long day of fishing. https://photos.smugmug.com/Boats/New-Macgregor-26X/i-gF...

An alarm just might be a good idea when in open water if your too busy sailing. This couple wished they had an alarm outside in the cockpit.

Re: bilge pump 26x

With so many bulkheads and hull sections how does one determine the installation of a 'fixed' bilge pump? :| I wired mine in order to move it anywhere in the boat with extended wire and alligator clips so that it can be used in auto or manual. On my 26X I mainly use it in 'manual' mode when pumping ...

FWIW I'll throw in my crude wiring diagram for reference only from when I wired my '97 MacX. Yes, reference only. From my research using a Honda 50 with an alternator 22amp/240watts this is what I came up with. Please feel free to critique. :) Also a link to my mod thread... http://macgregors...

Try again. Follow this path from the drop down. They illustrate both prop and jet drive on the same motor application. So yes...it should be applicable. edit...clic Gear Housing Driveshaft...depending on the gear ratio their are 2 different part #'s for the impellor. Hmmm.. > Mercury Marine [Updated...
