Re: San Juan islands in early April

Thanks everyone for the replies. An update - I made it to the San Juan Islands but not in Apr. I went in early June. It was warm during the day but quite chilly at night. The nights I had in harbor I kept my electric cabin heater on which helped. I launched from Anacortes. I went to Jones Island, Fr...

Re: towing with the dodger and bimini on

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I should take the dodger down and just fold up the bimini, put it in its cover, and tie it down to the sides of the cockpit.

San Juan islands in early April

Has anyone cruised the San Juan islands early to mid Apr? Is that a bad time to be out there?

towing with the dodger and bimini on

Does anyone tow with the dodger and bimini (covered) still on the boat?

Fueling while on trailer

Does the typical gas nozzel at the station reach the fuel tanks on a MacGregor 26m on the trailer?

location of spare tire mount

I got a u bracket and mounted the spare tire on the side of the ladder on a steel OEM trailer. Does anyone else do this? Does this impact the balance of the trailer?

Re: Best places to visit for weekend or day trip from La Con

Thanks Chinook for all the tips! For James Island and Saddlebag Island, have you ever beached the 26m to get on land? I should bring a dinghy?

Best places to visit for weekend or day trip from La Conner

I've got my 26m moored at La Conner in the Puget Sound for June. What are the best places to visit on a 1.5 to 2 day trip? I thought about going to Lopez Island which isn't too far. Anything else interesting closer? Thank you.

Re: Genoa cover necessary for trailering?

Thanks everyone. Considering the cost of the sail and the cover, I decided to be on the safe side and get the cover.

Re: Trailer newbie questions...

Thanks for all the info. I'll look into getting a bigger hitch and a transmission cooler. My M26m has no options or accessories on it so it's pretty close to factory weight.

Genoa cover necessary for trailering?

Hi, I recently purchased a 26M and plan on trailering the boat quite often. My genoa already has UV covers. To protect them during trailering, should I get a genoa cover?

Trailer newbie questions...

Totally new to trailering but not new to sailing... I recently purchased a 26M. The trailer that it came with is not in good shape. One of the lug nuts is missing. Is this something I can find at an auto parts store? Also, the lug bolt is stripped, would I able to force a nut thru the bad thread? Th...
