Re: Honda BF50 "kicking" in reverse

I am thinking of doing a trailer mod similar to this to eliminate the hull brake.

Camping on a Mac

I know Roger said you can use your Mac as an RV for dry camping and road trips, and he also said you can tow with a Taurus :o . How many of you have tried road camping with the Mac and what were your thoughts /feelings on said trips?

Re: Ok to epoxy parts to fiberglass hull?

Sure is, that is the standard practice using thickened epoxy and or tabbing with strips of fiberglass. The two things I will mention is I do not know how well epoxy will adhere to the cutting board material, and you should probably scuff up the fiberglass hull with some sandpaper for better adhesion...

Re: Why Do We Need Foam

I would think that it would not be advisable to add too much buoyancy low in the boat as it would change the center of gravity and make it more likely to turn turtle. The obvious question is how much is too much. Just hillbilly thinking no engineering papers around here. For mold remediation I use a...

Re: New owner of a Mac 26x. Question on rudder set up.

Yep you have some problems there. Your steering cable is connected directly to the motor (like a powerboat). It needs to be connected to the crossbar like this. https://i.postimg.cc/LgLfmcCv/IMG-0010.jpg Then the quick disconnect rod goes from the crossbar to the motor similar to this https://i.post...

26X deck/topside are they supposed to be matte/flat?

I have tried compound and wax with a buffer to no avail on areas above the rubrail (not nonskid).
Now I am wondering if I am trying to fix a problem that isn't there. The hull below the rubrail buffs and waxes up great. 2002 :macx:

Not a chemist but seems it's not a new problem https://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-repair-and-restoration/boat-restoration-building-and-hull-repair/296515-pc-11-epoxy Gel coat is polyester and I have heard from multiple sources that epoxy over poly is ok but poly over epoxy is not recommended. I al...

Re: Outboard help

As a general practice when I load cables/wires on to terminals I start with the largest wire first making sure the terminal lug is flat meaning that the cable stand up from the round lug. This keeps the most metal in contact, a common misunderstanding is that the electricity flows through the bolt w...
