Re: Suzuki dl50 wont start.
Yours seems fairly new, but our older Suzuki ('03DF50) had the fuel pump freeze up when we let it sit for a while. Dealer/mechanic said the ethanol in the fuel deteriorates the pumps very quickly if they aren't run often. He recommended running it at least once a month. For ours when we first turn t...

Boards up vs down, motor vs sail
Just a beginners question--rules are don't motor above 6 knots with rudders and board down because it will become unstable, but I read about people clocking greater than 6 knots sailing with all boards down. Why isn't it an issue when under sail, with the boards acting like wings and trying to lift ...

Re: Macgregors of Masonboro and Wilmington (NC) - (MOMAW)
Hello local crew, I'd also be interested in any Masonboro spots people might have to suggest. Beaching would be fun for our first overnight stay. We may try to head out Saturday or Sunday. Erik, if you can email your phone no. we'll try to contact you if we make it out. We did put in at Carolina Bea...

Re: Spreader length on '03 M?
>>my 05 M spreaders are 44". My stay adjusters are pined at about the midpoint. How much adjustment do you have left on the stays? Shorter spreaders may run out of adjustment if on factory lenght stays. >>I've read where spreaders have been shortened due to aluminum failure at the SS fitting wi...

Spreader length on '03 M?
Anyone out there with an early M and a tape measure? I had read here that the Mac spreaders were generally 44", but am replacing one of ours and it appears to be 40" (that's full length when removed--measured from the end of the stainless fitting to the spreader end it's probably a bit ove...

Shrouds over/under lifelines? - 26M
Thanks to everyone for the good info on this site. As newbies, the info here has at times almost terrified us with the number of things that can go wrong, but I'm sure will also make us safer on and off the water (once we get over the paralyzing fear, of course). :) Quick question--we removed our ma...

I've been reading this with interest--we have a small bilge pump, but I'm not sure it was installed well. The wires that connect it to the battery would clearly be under water once the float switch was triggered, and in fact the wire from the pump connects to another wire (with electrical tape) a fe...

We have deep cycle/standard batteries on the boat we recently purchased. Is there any harm in putting the Perko on combined once the motor is running so we can charge both at the same time? We've basically been running of the deep cycle all the time, starting or otherwise, and now the standard is st...

Looking for Opie or others in Wilmington, NC
Hello, I was trying to get in contact with Opie or other mac'ers in Wilmington. Saw opie's pics of Masonboro Island beaching and are itching to get on the water as soon as we feel we've learned enough to not harm anyone. We're very much novices and recently got a used M--could use some advice on ram...

Maine dealer for bimini and sail covers
Hello,
I was told I should find the dealer in Maine who has biminis and sail covers. Anyone have any leads? We're trying to match a tan cover we already have.
Thanks,
Scott
