Re: Straightening out a wavy, twisty furler foil/luff?

Hello,
Others will probably chime in BUT, I have not seen too much success noted when folks try to straighten the foil / luff. Mine usually straightens up after it's been up a while in the sun with tight forestay of course.

Re: Who has the oldest Macx boat

Hello, We have hull# 0064 built in May of 1995. Ordered from BWY after the Portland Boat Show that January. IIRC hulls # 1 through 3 were test boats from the factory. One had a hole drilled in the hull for the Coast Guard flotation test. One did not have an interior installed used for sailing perfor...

Re: Walk through transom usage

Hello, I do board through the transom but it depends on the dock, dock height and how I'm tied up. If I have it backed in a slip I put the boarding ladder down resting on the dock so I can walk across it. Pull it up at night. At Roche Harbor, for example, the old docks are at the height of the gunwa...

Re: Mac 26X front window leaking

Hello, The windows on my early 26x are getting very crazed and have absorbed enough moisture to begin looking cloudy (normal problem with polycarbonate). Thinking of replacing them all this year. For the front windows I'm thinking I might use 1/2" thick material and machine a 1/4" thick ed...

Re: Windows

Hello, I thought I posted to this before. I have an early 26X (actually marketed as a 2600 in 1995). The windows are all mounted with thin double sided foam mounting tape. When I had to reseal a side window I used the same tape but followed it up after installing with black silicone around the outer...

Re: Bow Pulpit Crack in Stainless Steel Tubing 26M

Hello,
I would straighten the tube and tig weld the crack unless it cracked for imperfection reasons then I would do as kmclemore suggests. You will find that the life line and pulpit stanchions already have the next size smaller tube welded to the plates inside going up about 6"~8."

Re: gooseneck failure (boom to mast connection)

Hello, On my 95 26X the original goose neck was a solid piece of aluminum rod. The short 1/4" bolt they used put threads in the wear area so not surprisingly it cut through the aluminum pretty quickly. I suspect they chose that part to be sacrificial in case of an accidental jibe so as not to t...

Re: Motor bucking redux

Hello, Yes the lock mechanism should lock in reverse and unlock in forward so the motor can kick up if you hit something. I believe the lock mechanism is independent of the hydraulic lift system, although, the lock should be on the part of the engine that raises with the ram. I'm just pulling from m...

Re: Motor bucking redux

Hello, Depends on what you mean by "bucking." Could be that the reverse lock is not working and the motor is lifting itself, cavitating then dropping back down (rinse & repeat). When you shift it into reverse a lever should lock the motor in the down position via the transom angle sett...

Hello,
Isn't that what the cable is for? Holds the seat down and gets clipped onto the lifeline to hold the seat open.

Any idea what angle ? A ballpark figure ?
Can't help with the angle. I assume all hulls and steps are slightly different. It's easy to see the mating surfaces when it's on the trailer.
