That AIS map tells me if you go adrift in the Pacific you die alone, sans technology.

Grayson theCat 2009-2020

Our little Russian blue took sick, survived multiple surgeries. He came home for a month, and we had a great time with him, and all his furry friends welcomed him back Alas, he had a bad relapse on Friday and we had to say goodbye. We put him in his favorite spot under his birding tree. He was the m...

Re: killing zebra mussels in ballast tanks

USDA reference on attached screenshot

0.5 gallon 6% bleach per 100 gallons

So I think about 1 full gallon 6% for our ballast tanks?

Re: Question about 12 gallon fuel tanks

Make sure they don’t contact the FG as it will wear a hole in the tank which will then stink.

24 gallons is a lot of gas and another 150 pounds of weight, too.

I believe most places no longer consider a 12cgallon tank portable so hold downs and other stuff might become mandatory

We had a few of these and I recall some one actually siccessfully pressure tested the ballast tank with compressed air to confirm integrity.

Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

I've been reading this thread, and I believe everyone is going a little too nuts over deciding their choice of tow vehicle. In the original MacGregor brochure I read way back in 2003 ( I think), it showed a Mac being towed by a Ford Taurus * :o ; I believe Catagail towed with a Volkswagen bus. Kevi...

I’m mad as hull at the younger folks who aren’t being responsible. I’m not in either the risk age group or medical risk group but feel an obligation to those who built the castle to be made safe. I don’t think the guys who are pushing to open too early realize they aren’t going to be profitable anyw...

Re: Fresh water tank?

Nothing too standard in these boats as accessories are added by the selling dealer.

The config mine came with was flexible camping water bags of 5 gallon capacity near each faucet, plumbed with Tygon tubing

Your water system may vary

I wish the media would stop touting cures and vaccine timelines. These things don’t work like that. The polio vaccine started in 1930 and was deliverable in 1955. We have more tools now, but it’s not 6 months away, it’s 2 years or more. I will make my summer trips to the Cape this year, and day sail...

Re: 26M ThruHull Question

I used PVC valves from Lowe Quality Stores (might be known as Home Desparate in your area) as seacocks. It’s low budget and non-approved in Chapman’s, but we aren’t talking blue water boats here Keep your gear away from the through hulls, seal and double clamp, them with PEX fittings, and inspect at ...
