Re: Max Horsepower for '01 26 x

I know this has been mentioned in previous similar threads but some :macx: manuals state pretty clearly "The boat is designed for an outboard motor of no more than 50 horsepower. Do not use a larger engine". Of course this may or may not have any consequence to you or the operation of your boat, an...

Re: Window Trim

What you can not see in my photo is an opening porthole over the sliding galley. There is one on the starboard side also. Once while sailing in excess of a 45 degree heel, I forgot that the ports were open. I quickly asked my wife to go below and close them. When she again came on deck, I told her t...

Re: Where is everyone?

Not inappropriate at all.

You are not asking for people to abandon that site; you are informing that we have been rescued by the Montana Mensch, and he is resurrecting, improving the site.

Re: Where is everyone?

BOAT posted “ I'm just not sure what the goal of the site is so that's why it's hard to make suggestions .” I’ve always thought the goal of this site is to create an expansive community of Mac owners. A place to gather, have questions answered, create camaraderie. When my wife and I travel, this sit...

I guess I’m just old; in the early sixties, they were just trolls.

Re: New Sail Technology

1st, I too have a flat top main; have it for at least seven years. I do find your statement that you have less heel, well, questionable. There is significantly more fabric up higher. One of the first things I noticed is more heel. I purchased the sail because I was sailing in low wind conditions, an...

Isn’t going from a seaward to a Mac sort of a step down?

Ix
Absolutely not!

Ix, you’ve owned a Mac long enough to know our advantages. Sure, a Mac is not built as sturdy as a Seaward, but what we can do is a longer list than what it can do.

New Sail Technology

This is the November dispatch from Lyman-Morse boat builders in Main. Long, but interesting post for anyone interested in a new sail, or sails. Ray “Sail Tech: Re-engineering the Past for Future Performance New and classic yachtsBickering about sails used to be easy. Dacron sails were old-fashioned,...

Re: Forestay on the las 3 strands!

I just received from BWY a new headstay for the CDI furler on my 2005 :macm:. I purchased the heavier duty wire. Tomorrow I find out if my old turnbuckle works on the new headstay.

M forestay

Anyone have an :macm: forestay failure? If so, where was the failure?

Not interested in :macx: information; not applicable. The :macx: mast rig is different than the :macm: ‘s.

Re: Storing Kayak in MacX

Except for the price, this looks like something to make both paddle boarders & kayakers happy. West Marine is knocking $1,000. off the suggested retail price.

Re: Window Trim

very interested to hear what those of you who have owned, sailed, motored, and modified them for years have to say! You will find your Mac to be a very versatile boat. It doesn’t power as well as a powerboat, and it does not sail quite as well as a traditional keelboat, but it does both well enough...
