Re: 26X fuel tanks

Follwing your wise counsel (and because I think one of my existing, older, tanks had some sort of leak - can't SEE it but the ful keeps dropping for no apparent reason when in the slip) I am now the proud owner of 2 Neptune tanks. I love the way they "just fit" into the fuel locker. 8) With an fuel...

Re: Any one know what size motor you REAllY nead for a dinghy?

personally, w/ a Mac i'm only focused on weight. that is, i want a very light weight motor & dinghy.
2 - 3hp is sufficient for boat to shore transportation w/ your typical small Mac dinghy.

Re: Anti-fouling & Temporary Slip

hartflat wrote:BTW, how do you clear the bridge?
like every other sailboat does inside mandalay...drop the mast about 5'.
i have a permanent halyard from top of mast to bow rail and a quick release pin where furler connects to bow.
it's a quick and easy process to drop mast just enough to clear bridge.

Re: Anti-fouling & Temporary Slip

hardflat-Ray: my X is docked in Mandalay along the main channel in front of our house. i followed Sum's advice, ordered the Sea Hawk products. started w/ barrier coat (two coats), then the black anti-fouling paint. the materials are about $300. the CI yard charges about $150 for blocking + 3-day sta...

Re: 26X fuel tanks

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41e0DJEQXgL._SL500_AA300_.jpg many X owners, including me, use 4 of these in their existing, non-modified cockpit lockers. this way, if needed, you'll get a full 24 gallons of fuel. and, when you need to "re-load", they can be easily removed from locker and tra...

i'm in same "steering stuck" situation w/ my '02 X. had already dreaded the purchase of new equipment and install. i still have the challenge of entire removal and re-install. so i guess i'll try this before i do anything else. thanks for the idea. sounds like it's stuck in forward, that's why it won't turn over.
need to find a way to make sure it's in neutral.

Re: Going to look at an X next week

Mounting a 9.9 Hp on these boat gives you electric start and decent battery charge, while you incur no installation cash outlay. Reselling, you open your market of buyers since they can buy your boat sans motor and repower with the motor of the buyers choice. that's an excellent perspective if one'...
