Chain Plates

Inspected the chain plates last week and they look rusted and probably leaking also. So I better replace them before going out. Anybody ever replaced or removed them? Looks like it can be done on a 26M without cutting the liner. https://9r7ljq.ch.files.1drv.com/y4mpo44GdsfEMYOnMsbhc3eqJF3s097MgZr-6s...

Re: 26M mastgate

In the photo above with the 2004 mast, I noticed, that there are 4 pop rivets showing. Mine is a 2007, with only 2 on each side. Was this a modification to the mast... or what was in 2004? The gooseneck got loosened from accidental jibes so I added 2 more rivets and actually have a bolt going thru ...

Re: Loose footed main, pros? cons?

Hadn't thought about storage. What do you mean about pinning? The mast would bang side to side while motoring in choppy seas or at a rolly anchorage. Drill a hole the base insert a 1/4 inch pin remove when sailing. Also keeps the mast from flopping on the side when trailering. https://9l5ksq.ch.fil...

Re: Rubrail?

I brought locally the 5200 and 4000UV at West Marine(wasn't sure if they could mail that stuff here) Removing the old rubrail and cleaning the old 5200 took a while. I used the original end caps they were not available at the time. This kit also includes 2 fiberglass end caps and 3 cartridges of 3M ...

Re: gel coat and carnauba wax

Good to know. I just waxed last weekend using Collinite 925. Also used Collinite Cleaner wax 920 on the black strips. https://876vpa.ch.files.1drv.com/y4mNBYw7_hqwpYjQCRRchkQDOQ4tN0da1dCBLnsJUVhijEIns8ngsh1HG6rulJuTjIgesRtS8JFA6PRroyloi14Kw18QHMZbxgsXdNKcMVFcdMfQXrZLFHxLIdvIccxofpZDmklMqYa-rWEiJ7IXm...

Re: reinforcerd rudder posts

Are all the factory ones thin? Is the 5mm one a BWY item only?
Hi Boat,
My 5 MM rudder posts were from the factory. Most likely changed to keep cost low.

If they're not bent keep on using until so.

Re: reinforcerd rudder posts

For some reason the original posts on my 2004 :macm: had the 5mm posts I used them until badly rusted at the top of the tube. When I replaced them with the thinner ones, they bent. Replaced again only ones available were the thin pair, they bent too. Last year BWY had the 5 MM made got two right awa...

Re: Forestay on the las 3 strands!

Really lucky it didn't break. I've seen my forestay with a strand or two broken. Installed the larger forestay from BWY this year. l try to replace all standing rigging every 4 or 5 years now. Had a lower shroud break once while motoring. Not fun  Put a toggle at the top too. I also use a line ...
