Re: Bahamas for Christmas

I agree, Biscayne bay and outer Islands will easy eat up 2 weeks of your cruise or much more. Launching at South Dade Marina will cost you $10 a day for launch and storage of truck/trailer. Pennicamp State park another launch, Homestead another. These areas in Biscayne Bay are crystal clear waters i...

Re: More than 50 % of stove fires are alcohol stove fires

I use the Kenyon butane single burner, yes the gas is heavier than air as is propane but never had a problem with leakage and if I did the small container would never cause a explosion unless you deliberate put a torch to it. Fact is Butane or Propane gives off a much higher btu than alcohol and coo...

Re: soggy cockpit cushions

I used 1 inch close cell foam with sunbrella covers and Velcro fastners. Easy to store below deck as is 3 times less thick than stock and water proof. Notice the Helm seat, click to enlarge photo. This is 4 inch reg. foam with 1 inch close cell foam on top, gets the person on the wheel higher . Best...

Re: Can anyone post a few pics of boom rigging?

Russ, Boom vang is very needed as the wind increases both into and downwind. Without it will lift your boom and no control of lift. Also sail shape is much controlled with the boom vang. I consider it a must have on the Mac for sail shape. Get it Russ, you will like it. :) Just hook a snap to boom a...

Yes at Bahia Honda Marina, he has a hard top (not wood) that he keeps his 200 watt solar panel on. No mast and uses boat as a power boat. Nice couple and they been cruising Keys awhile. Dave PS:, if you are 65 yrs young and resident of FL. you can camp or dock 50% less than booking price at any FL S...

Re: What is wrong with this tire

Axel bending under load causing the inner tread to wear. Solution, need another axel. In time single axel trailers will burn out bearings and tires due to undersize trailer for the stock Mac Trailer. Why most of us have gone twin axels for safety and tow control. Dave My trailer has started to devel...

Gazmn, Just came back from a 3 day stay at Bahia Honda. I went with my tow hauler with 2 Motorcycles and Two 12 ft kayaks (one with 30lb thrust elect. motor) . Kayaks were on top of my F150, Bikes were in my Custom made 14 ft Cargo trailer. We had a great time and best fishing was under RT 1 bridge,...

Re: Battery Location (was "So, this post can probably be de.

I noticed you have a 90 hp engine and that's fine to put the starter battery forward to but I would use #4 cable. Voltage drop on a 6 wire may work but not worth it. By doing this it opens a area that is prime for storage and easy access. Those with 50 hp , 6gauge works fine. Dave I have a 10 amp au...

Re: Dimensions spreaders

Bet they bent 6-10 inches away from mount.
Get new spreader from BWY and add a 12 inch wood dowel inside the spreader.
Problem Solved.
Been there, done that 7 yrs ago.

Battery Location (was "So, this post can probably be de..")

I have a 10 amp auto charger for charging house and starter battery separate. diode is installed to keep both house and starter battery separate, this has been mentioned few times in my posts. you can go to advance search and look under DaveB. My starter battery is a 24 group deep cycle battery and ...
