Re: Swim Platform Mod

Lol! It makes it sound like I wasn’t being too complimentary to the admiral, lol. No, I meant if you couldn’t reach the tilt switch while standing on the motor that she could help by working the switch, not by adding weight to the equation, lol. :D I think too you will have more than enough hydrauli...

Re: Swim Platform Mod

So I've now had a couple of separate uses of the system and have to regard the uphaul pulley attached to the mast arch as a fail because it flexes too much and would probably begin to bend if I pushed it too much. My workaround was running another line from that to the boom pulley attachment bracke...

Re: Lost key - sell boat?

The key also hinders unauthorized use. In some boats it is attached to a tether that cuts out the ignition if that person falls overboard. One of ours got banged and bent, they are soft brass, I got a new one from the dealer by providing him with the number on it (no one else had a key blank that wo...

Re: Teak

I like the look of teak on a boat as well. Nice work there John! Brightwork does add a little to the time needed for upkeep and maintenance of a boat. To keep the maintenance of teak low, I like to maintain it as an oil finish, just wipe oil on and wipe the excess off once or twice a season (plus te...

Re: Stuck in irons.. help please.

As well as making sure to initiate the tack with enough way, or forward speed, be careful with rudder input. Too much, too fast and you will have too much drag or even stall the rudders. Getting the feel of this is where a tiller has an advantage over wheel steering. As you have gathered by now, it'...

Re: Mooring single handed

Extendable boat hooks can do just that, expand when you hook onto something while the boat's mass is working against you, They are great for pushing off of things, or grabbing onto some flotsam, but be certain that if you are grabbing onto a cleat while docking, HOLD ON :D Boathooks are a consumabl...

Re: Neglect your boat and this is what happens

Whoa! Javex and vinegar mix taime? That produces toxic chlorine gas. :? Doing that with really good ventilation, right? (Looks really good in the pictures, btw). Hmmm, we'll that explains a few things! :| I did dilute it with lots of water, i'm hoping that makes it less toxic for me. And yes, it's ...

Re: offshore bracket

Sorry, I don't know of any details on the transom, other than to say it is solidly built. Tip the motor up on the trailer, grab the skeg (for maximum leverage) and lift up and push down with all your might and see how much deflection (none) happens in the transom (or step on the anti-cavitation plat...
