Re: Hull identification and compatibility

Measure from the pivot bolt to each end of the keel. May be hard to do on the trailer. May need to use a thin yardstick to get to the bolt, then mark a reference point and use a regular tape measure for the rest.

Re: looking for a dinghy --ideas

Not a good choice if you want to tow it behind your boat. A kayak cannot go up on plane, and if its hull speed is exceeded, it will nose dive into the waves and go under. Kayaks are best stored on the deck.

Re: Hull identification and compatibility

Should be a 1983 Mac 25, hull number 1887. And the keel should work in your boat, but with all things MacGregor.........measure to be sure, as they sometimes used whatever parts were available.

Re: 26m Asymmetrical Spinnaker Sheet Length?

Not sure exactly how the core and the cover were tapered together, as a friend who is really good with lines did it for me. But I can say that it required him to pass the core through 50' of the cover. I know this because it took afew hours total to make the 2 tappers and he was growling the whole t...

Re: 26m Asymmetrical Spinnaker Sheet Length?

http://forums.sailboatowners.com/index.php?media/spinnaker-sheets-showing-the-quot-stripped-down-quot-blue-line-center-portion-that-attaches-to-the-clew.14735/full My spinnaker is a 100' continuous piece of 1/4 New England ropes flight line. At the midpoint of the sheet, the cover has been removed ...

Re: Keys trip II

Monday morning we left FaroBlanco with winds around 10knots, with higher gusts. Had the best sailing of the trip so far. A broad to beam reach all the way to steam boat channel (about 25 miles ). Then motored into the Lorelei anchorage to reward ourselves with dinner at the Lorelei. Tuesday was ligh...

Re: Keys trip II

So I wake up this morning to sound of or should I say the lack of the sound of wind howling. There is a slight breeze though. Being in a slip right on the end near the channel, I start to see sailboats, one by one, start moving south out of Boot Key harbor. I check all my weather apps, trying to dec...

Re: Keys trip II

Doug, my primary anchor is a 14lb delta, with 25' of 1/4" chain and 150' 3/8" 3 strand. We looked for a sandy spot to drop the anchor. Did not drag at all. I called South Dade marina back in January to make reservations, and he said call the week before you want to come down, which I did, and he sai...

Re: Keys trip II

Wednesday morning we left Grassy Key and headed towards Marathon. We were looking for fuel and a nice marina close to things, cause I figured we would be there afew days til this wind let up. Found fuel ok, but could not find a slip. With a full tank of fuel, I figured we could sail on a deep reach ...

Re: Hello All- New guy alert

Welcome aboard. The V25 is a great, capable boat. Yet simple and inexpensive. I'm currently down in the Keys enjoying their windy end to winter. The boats shallow draft has saved my butt more than afew times.

Re: Keys trip II

Arrived at South Dade at noon on Sunday, had the boat in water by 3. Finished provisioning and getting boat ready at 530 and headed out. Once we got out of the canal, winds were 20+ from the east, so we motored east in Manatee bay to anchor in the lee of the small islands there. Spent a breezy, nois...

Re: Keys trip II

I would put in, and store your rig at South Dade marina. Bob is very friendly and helpful. At 10 bucks a day, you won't find a better deal. From there, one day to Islamorada (Lorelei tiki bar), next day to Boot Key harbor, next to Bahia Honda, then to key west is a nice easy paced trip. You can ling...

Re: Keys trip II

Hey Gaz, I'm in Cocoa beach tonight and will move to South Dade marina in the morning to rig the boat and launch.
Looks like the winds are coming back? Going to try for Bahia Honda by the weekend. If we duck into Hawks, I'll look you up.

Keys trip II

Miss Adventure is loaded up for her second trip ( last one was 2013) to the Keys. The tentative plan is to put in, and store truck/trailer, at South Dade marina and head towards Bahia Honda for afew days, then work our way back to South Dade. It snowed some last night, as it did the last time we hea...
