Re: how you fix your anchor while on the bow?

I do as Chinook stated above. A simple line, one end tied to the pulpit, goes through the chain near the end of anchor and then gets cleated off. No fancy hardware or holes to drill.

Re: Docking with pier on starboard

Don't limit yourself to forward approaches only. Sometimes coming up to a dock in reverse can be an option too.

Re: 1978 Venture 25 Project

The hard plstic tank fits into the frame on top of the sand bag. With 2-3 adults in the cockpit, the 9.9 outboard, and all the stuff i store in the aft locker i can use the extra weight in the front.

Re: 1978 Venture 25 Project

I used an oil based exterior paint over an oil based, cover anything type primer. It's holding up great 5 years now. I have used Rustoleum with good success also on other boat interiors, if you want to use basic colors. http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/picture.php?albumid=1703&pictureid=15310 Ho...

Re: Sails from other boats

I use J-24 headsails on my V-25 (same rig as the 26 classics). It is not doable without some modifications. The forestay has to be lengthened , which means moving it up the mast. This entails lengthening the upper shrouds, as they attach to the mast where the forestay does. To keep the original prop...

Re: compression post problem

Hmmmm.....worth the time an effort?? I wonder that with everything I do to the boat(s).......lol. There are plenty of 25's sailing around with the keel untouched, so one could say it doesn't need done. I did it more for the fact that I now know what I have and what condition it is in. My boat has be...

Re: compression post problem

This is not a common problem on the 25's. In fact I haven't heard of anyone else having it (not that I am the authority on Mac25's, but I have done an aweful lot of research on them). This seems to be a boat specific problem. Another possible cause could be that the mast is "pumping". This can happe...

Re: compression post problem

Hi. Nice boat with nice mods. Did you do the mods or the PO? I would want to know WHY there is so much pressure on the post as to drive it down into the support like that. How much rig tension are you using? How tight are those baby stays, once the mast is up? Are you using the original size wire fo...

This one should work fine. Make sure you get one with a brake.

Re: Trailer NY to FL Keys - suggestions?

You'll love Bahia Honda (the kids too). You are correct, there is plenty to do there besides sailing! Beaches, swimming area, walking trails, nature museum. The boat ramp there is very nice, plenty of room too. Sombrero reef is an excellent place for snorkeling. Try to time your trip so you are ther...

Re: Trailer NY to FL Keys - suggestions?

Hi, did that trip last winter. Here is the link to the report. http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21420 South Dade marina is the best price, epecially if you leave your tow rig there. There are plenty of ramps around, it's the storage for the rig that's the problem. Lots of go...
