Re: Computer Sail Simulators to be better sailor ?

Sailing = feel ......no computer will give you the sensation of wind, tide, rudder angle, sail trim, boat speed. The thrill of small boat sailing is unreal....like snowskiing, surfing, landsailing.

Re: Electric Vent?

Having started to modify my vent valving I noticed the following 1.as we don't have the horsepower ie only 15hp we can't drain on the move so all draining takes place on the ramp....we drive forward untill drainvalve at rear is out off the water and observe water coming out.I haven't timed it but as...

Re: 26X Battery bank questions

I modified a "rocket launcher"? or possibly a radar dome mount of a Bertram 27 ...1" SS pipe frame 2 post angled back.Cut the middle of of it to get the reduced width and mounted 6 x 20 watt panels on the curved topside which over the rear of the cockpit also doubles as a shade maker.I also had made...

Re: 26X Battery bank questions

Yes I've done the same...purchased 2 identical batteries and that's my start 1 & 2 and then a completely seperate deep cycle AGM bank for refrigeration mainly and all other 12v demand.Switching fitted to allow all or any to start the motor should it be necessary.A dc-dc charger from my start bank to...

Re: 26X Battery bank questions

So the big thing about all of this is....if you're charging 2 different type of batteries which have different charging charactistics ie float voltages...you can cook a gel battery to death if the voltage rises above 14.2 soooo if its on a circuit which is going to do this....it'll cost you.By the w...

Re: Broken Pulpit

Having just done a whole heap of mods requiring access to the area where your pulpit is attached....you'll find it's not screwed to the deck BUT bolted ie a nut on the inside...in my case nylock nuts.I had to cut some of the interior away to gain access and then remove the floatation and do the job ...

Re: Weather Protection

we actually have the prototype dodger made by Blue reef fitted to our 26x.....and it transforms the boat. Our boat also has a bimini fitted so as to allow it to stay up whilst sailing. The only mod/addition we made to the dodger was to install velcro & presstuds to attach flyscreens. The dodger is styl...

Re: 26X Battery bank questions

Having 2 batteries of different charging requirements on the one system is asking for trouble. We've gone to 2 batteries (same model same capacity and age) both marine semi deep cycle on a 1-2 both switch and then a dc-dc charger to charge our deep cycle battery bank. This will allow both starting bat...
