Re: Motor hitting the road

Regarding your motor position question. I use a rubber block that fits around the tilt piston and I tow with the motor tilted up. This ensures that the motor does not lower during towing without relying on the hydraulics to hold the motor in position. It works great. Here's the web site. http://www....

Re: Southport Sail

We all have had our mishaps. Mine is in the shop cause the lower unit has to be replaced to the tune of $3500 due to my idiotic mistake of catching one of the rudder lines in the prop and bending the lower unit casing. :x This should make for a good story Saturday night. Looking forward to the tale...

Re: Southport Sail

I agree with Mastreb... We'll probably be doing a bit of motoring on the Cape Fear river considering the tides... I'm taking Syzygy up to the Erie Canal and Lake Champlain in about a month and we're not going to bother taking the mast with us. Think of the time you'll save in getting the boat in the...

Re: Southport Sail

I talked with Southport and they said we had 6 boats that have called in their reservation and I have counted 11 boats that have confirmed to show. So call early and they will try and get us together for the night. Just tell them you are with the Macgregor group. Captain Ron, can you publish the li...

Re: Southport Sail

Just made my reservations at the Southport Marina for Friday night and the Wilmington Docks for Saturday night. The dock master at the Wilmington Docks knew about the group but didn't know who had called in their reservations (The big boss has that info). I mentioned the McGregor group when I called...

Okay, thanks... I couldn't figure out over the years why some just sat there and others zipped right along.

Re: Southport Sail

I don't remember it being a problem... But then again, I'm from Charleston so it's got to be pretty bad for me to consider it bad... if anything we might encounter biting gnats otherwise known as flying teeth or "No See'ums". They are only out when there is no wind during the early morning or late a...

Re: Erie Canal Guide Book

Got the NY State Canal Guide. Should be very good with Active Captain. We are planning on putting in a Pirates Cove Marina north of Syracuse and head East first and head into Lake Champlain up to Burlington. Then back down to the canal and west to Buffalo, then return to Pirate Cove to haul out. Pir...
