Re: tired of polishing the Coon stripes

I awlgripped mine. Even the bad paintjob looks much better than faded gelcoat.

Re: Ruddercraft foil vs

I'd say 9 knots is tops. And that is running in a lot of wind. Average speeds are in the 4 to 6 know range. Those lower speeds dont really need or benefit from thin foils. Yesterday I spent the afternoon on a reach, under main. Average 3.5 knots with the board half down. I noticed much less improvem...

Re: Ruddercraft foil vs

I'll try to post photos. I'll be more comfortable carrying sail downwind since the running backs are installed. Is the foil the exact same on your rudders as the plastic ruddercraft rudders? My boats ghosting steering was night and day. And I sail like that often since it allows me to poke into unkn...

Re: Boat's Planned Mods

I might have another shot in a few years. Both my batteries are pretty new AGM and the system is working well. So, I'm in no real rush to change anything. By the time I need new batteries, the charge controller will be old enough to replace, also.

Re: Boat's Planned Mods

I had a compact lithium ion battery hooked to a 20 watt panel with a 10 amp solar controller. After a week of not using the system, battery discharged and would no longer accept a charge. I had set up this system just to try out Lithium batteries. It worked ok while I was using the battery every day...

I'm assaulted by ads everywhere else I go. Might as well be here, one of the few site I actually care about :D

Re: Boat's Planned Mods

Re mystery of solar refrigerator There is none. Small Dometic brand compressor driven cold box runs off my 150 watt array. Re lithium batteries I toasted mine even with a charge controller. Beware. I think I might wait a few years yet. Re vinyl fabric are you going to recover the whole inside of the...

Re: I hate to say it...

What about a simplified site that's easier to take care of? Or running some ads on this one to raise money.
From west marine or other boat related business.

Re: Ruddercraft foil vs

Took the boat out today with just a main in very light airs. 3-5 knots maybe. Had no problem steering with the barest way on, perhaps a knot or two. Boat handled better than she ever had before in these conditions, which I have shied away from because of unreliable helm. By the end of the day I was ...

Ruddercraft foil vs

When I got my wood rudder blanks from that guy in TX, I just a tad dismayed that the foil section didn't match the plastic rudder blade I had sent to him to copy. The thickness was carried farther aft on the wood blanks. I chocked it up to the idea that you are only getting so much work out of someo...

Re: Trailer sailor

I'd have already ripped those non
Kickup rudders off.
Shes probably better built. But not much faster under sail, and certainly not under power. And not nearly the room. At 4 times the price I'll pass.

Re: Dinghy Talk

Towing anything behind a mac sucks. I use a paddle board that hangs from the side of the boat. Its generally practical for a single person. I also have a skin on frame foldable pram with a mini outboard motor that stores below. No easy solutions on small cruising yachts.

Re: Keel for motoring

The skeg mod on my M model makes a big difference.
On sailing as well.
Before cutting off the addition, you should sail the boat with it once or twice. Also, dual fins help more than single imo

Re: Etec lower cylinder not firing

That's the black thing ontop of the cylinder head? Looks like it could be somewhat easy to remove?
I initially thought my problem might be a bad injector. By I smelled unburnt fuel an decided ths injector was working. Is there an hour range when these things typically start acting up?
