Re: Making rudders

I sail mine a lot. And i sail in less than stellar conditions. I sail with the rudders in the horizontal position at times, with some care. Haven broken them yet. I find the boat doesn't sail well with one rudder except in mild conditions. I have the ones I took off if someone needs a spare. But, th...

Re: Making rudders

Yes oak. Soon to have glass and epoxy, and a bronze pivit bushing for 1/2 pin. I was going to weight them, but if they float, it will make clearing the weed off them easier.

Re: Flyorsail.com Pegasus Aeronautics ripped me off??

I like the ribbon on the shrouds method. In terms of windspeed the only place im going in 30 knots is ashore to buy a sandwich! Guess all the real sailors live in CA ;)

Re: Limbs 1, Mast 0

I thought about the freestanding mast. Decided that the Deck beef up would be problematic. How did you approach that?

Re: Modifications for stability in rough water

If it's crappy on the quarter that usually means wind. Sail.
Double reefs, and as much jib as she will carry. It's my favorite point of sail.

New bow support chock

I've taken my boat out for the off season. Before I did. I replaced the metal, rusty bow support. The one shaped like a v. I replaced it with a wood block made from PT 4×4 lumber and shaped the vee notch into it. Then I covered it with trailer carpet. I made the vee notch a few inches higher. I also...

Re: YouTube Sailors

All I know is, many of those guys get some cute young thing, and collect money from ads and patrons. Life is good ;) They have expensive looking boats and slick video production. One team abandoned a big multihull for grounding damage but I bet many on this board might have been able to salvage it. Ix
