Re: Unintended rudder modification

BOAT, I'll reply to your lengthy post as well as I can but ask that we not go too far with this in order to avoid excessively hijacking this thread. I have to apologize about my first picture as it was an earlier version and not representative of what I ended up with in the end. I finally ran with t...

Re: Unintended rudder modification

I replaced my rope with a heavy duty bungee system. Two per rudder for redundancy and it will deflect if it hits anything but stay down fully while sailing. http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l520/rottnest/Rudder%20Redux/IMG_2483.jpg http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l520/rottnest/Rudder%20Redux/...

Re: Straightening a Mast

Had a Mac 22 buddy meeting me on the water call and say he had an problem...caught a shroud on the way out of the marina. It pulled the spreader straight back and bent the mast into an S shape with extreme tension on one side and the other hanging slack. It didn't look good but wasn't kinked. I had...

Re: Replacing Permanent Ballast in 26M

The key in a MacGregor would be to increase the lift of the sail in the bottom half. Flying jibs?

Re: My POOR 26M

Judging by some of the older videos of you doing warp nine in Pegasus, it's probably a wonder that things lasted as long as they did! I'd like to see a picture of your bent bracket. If you looked at my (now) very old welded reinforcement you might get some ideas of what to do next. Haven't had any i...

Re: My POOR 26M

Didn't you have IDA rudders (the after market ones)? My old mast foot was pretty shodily installed when I had to remove it and re-drill for the new mast blank.

Re: Replacing Permanent Ballast in 26M

I don't think any weighted keel system would vary that much if thè mass was not altered sufficiently to noticiably exceed its initial presence. The Mac has basically none,, other than what is built into the hull as a resin sand mass and/or water ballast weight. What a weighted daggerboard would do i...
