Re: A mainsail question...

Here is some other examples of outhaul setups. I have a 2:1 external on a loose footed main (from JudyB) but plan on taking it to a 4:1 external as shown. http://www.harken.com/content.aspx?id=3910 How do you reef with that arrangement? Not sure the question. Reefing is independent of the outhaul. ...

Re: question on dodgers....

We have an :macx: with the narrow dodger with vinyl and screen doors and a Bimini. The Bimini was recovered a few years ago (no zippers). I've wanted to go with a full enclosure but the BWY pieces to complete the set are all designed for the wide dodger. I was about to sell what I had and go with a ...

Re: Chinook's Great Loop

Hey Mike and Sandy, It's been great following along on your adventures, particularly after meeting you both and seeing your boat at the BWY Rendezvous last year. Not sure what your itinerary is but we are going to be on Cat Island Bahamas visiting friends (no boat, I wish. Flying in) Feb 23-Mar 3. I...

Re: Winter cover failure

I just went and checked mine on the weekend for the first time in 6 weeks or so.. All good. My setup looks the same as yours, right down to the color of the tarp. I'm using hose clamps to secure the pvc hoops now. They work the best of anything else I've tried.

Re: Helm pedestal top rebuild

I just Gorilla glued some blocks of oak behind the screw holes and predrilled them for the screws. Works like a charm. Used them at the cover under the anchor locker too

Probably easier to change to circuit breaker panels. I used West Marine 6 circuit and the 4+2

Re: bump from trailer when towing

My actuator used to leak a bit and I could tell it needed fluid when it started bumping more. If you're not using the brakes, disable the ability for it to slide. Or ignore it.

That may require the optional rectifier/regulator. New ones do.

Re: Autopilot

For what its worth it sounds like I did much the same as Chinook for the drive motor. Rubber boot is from a honda shifter. I did go with a larger wheel. I don't even notice the few extra inches diameter of the wheel. I bent up my own pin from a stainless bolt. Tach, autopilot control and Ram mount f...

A crying shame to see the Macgregor/Tattoo end up where it is. :(
