Re: Stereo installlation

I finally got the stereo installed a few weeks ago and have been remiss in posting the results. It turned out great and sounds fantastic. We did a couple things different and wanted to share them with the group. Located the head of the unit in the bulkhead behind the cooler in the aft table seat. Th...

Re: Mac trawler in music video

They spent all the production money on the models, had to settle for a cheaper boat. Best bang for the buck!

Re: 6 gallon fuel tanks

Last Spring I bought 2 of the new design Moeller 12 Gallon tanks. I had to enlarge the openings slightly on my 26X to fit them. I wrapped the tanks with Motorcycle shipping straps, (courtesy of my local BMW dealer) to facilitate pulling them out of the openings when I need to. Works great! Happy wit...

Re: Topping lift

Another vote for the topping lift, and another good reason to have it.

Re: Topping lift

No doubt the boomkicker could be a very effective way to do this, but making up a topping lift is very cost effective....$200+shipping & handling vs about $20 at your local Lowes or Home Depot. Being retired, and pinching penny's, think I will make my own topping lift. If the Eagle drops an egg in m...

Topping lift

Has anyone added a topping lift to their 26X? It looks like it should be pretty simple, especially if the boat was on the trailer with mast in crutch. i was wondering how & where to attach it to upper mast, approximate length? This looks to be the simplest, and actually the best way to get the boom ...

posting a picture

On other forums I have been involved in, it is really simple to post a picture. With the popularity of this site, you would think someone would try to simplify picture posting, instead we must join something else, go through several steps to get it done. Kinda like reaching over your shoulder to scr...

Re: Another winch question

Pulled her out and derigged with no real issues. 125 mile run from Pickwick Lake to my home, no problem.

Took longer to coil all the stays and secure them to the boat than it did anything else. Pressure wash her this afternoon and put her away.

Stereo installlation

I bought a nice stereo system for the 6x a few months ago and have been putting off installation. I suppose my biggest fear is cutting speaker holes. I would like to locate the speakers next to the main cabin entrance on each side. I have seen several pictures of similar installations, later I may a...

Re: Another winch question

OK, think I got everything, but just to be clear....what is the "Tail" you keep referring to. I had planned to take the furler mid ship and secure it out of the way while lowering the mast (to the Life line maybe?) I plan to stretch it back out straight and tie it to the mast when it is securely in ...

Re: Another winch question

Baby Stays are in place and attached. CRUTCH IN PLACE, Bimini removed and stowed. Then as I understand it, 2 wraps clockwise around winch, crank in winch, use it to raise the mast back up if needed, slowly lower mast by letting line slip on winch while firmly holding line to keep it from running fre...
