Re: Where is everyone?

Need any help? 30 years in IT, and I retired less than a year ago. Thanks! Actually, I also have +30 years in IT (former IBM Senior Consulting SE and later Global Dir of Tech at a large pharma)... but it's not me who would be doing all this - there's no way I'd have the time. My job is simply to fi...

Re: Where is everyone?

...However posting random photos or video here is a pita. That is one of the main reasons why this site is lagging in my opinion.... Ixnay All of that may change in the near future. Again, stay tuned.... with any luck, the forum may have a new and more enhanced life. That's all I can say for now, b...

Re: MODS, MODS, MODS, Accessing the Mods

As I noted elsewhere, I am working on a more permanent fix to the whole situation here on the forum. I'd rather not say more than that at this time, but your patience is very much appreciated. Hang in there.

Re: Where is everyone?

We lost a lot of folks when the forum went down for far too long. And Facebook, as you noted, has taken a chunk. Further, due to the outage an alternative Mac Forum has been created and some folks went there as well. However, I agree that a forum is the best way to discuss technical topics over a lo...

Re: Mast and sails for sale.

I understand the reason for going to trawler mode, but I don’t think I’d sell the sailing bits. When you ultimately do go to sell the boat - which eventually someone will have to do - you will have reduced its value by far more than $2500. And for the new owner the price of replacing all that would ...

If you get up to the north end of Champlain towards the latter part of June, let me know. We will be up at our lake house on Point Au Fer by then.

Re: The bitter end

Wrap the end of the rope with one or two turns of electrical tape. Cut the rope with a very sharp knife or razor blade in the middle of the taped section. Use the grill lighter to heat and melt the end of the rope. Whilst still melted, press the end onto a cool piece of flat metal (a hammer's side w...
