Re: Trailer sailor

Re: Trailer sailor
WOW!!! thats a lot of boat! truly beautiful- if i had the extra $$ i wouldnt hesitate! like all of our boats, lots of pros and cons. youre getting what you pay for, but my :macm: got me on the water quicker, on a lower budget- and i can mod and improve as i go along- at the end of the day- i would s...

Re: Where you have the fresh water fill in?
i have a 7 gal saltwater tank for the head, and i thibnk the fresh water is 16 gallons- they are both under the v berth. both flush mount deck fills are just forward of the head skylight on the stbd side- one is labelled fresh , the other waste. for filling the tanks - (the salt water tank- i have a...

Re: Best way to shorten CDI furler?
i shortened mine a bit when i put my new bow roller on, and i did it my adjusting the bolt at the furler, however- doing it again, i would use the opportunity to upgrade the shroud to a heavier duty one, made to your exact length required and get it swaged professionally. still with some adjustabili...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel
for absolute fear of starting another anchoring thread :D i will refrain from too much detail, but this is one of the reasons i love my version of the Bahamian moor!- little different from how most set it up. it does not replace a stern anchor system, but the boat will swing to the strongest prevail...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel
yer welcome mate, its just what works for me, i have a daggerboard in my boat, i am quite wary of getting the foils stuck, and i just feel reducing the clearances may contribute to that- with some gunk in there- doesnt even need to be sea growth, but the noise can be annoying, its the best solution ...

Re: Clanging Swing-Keel
heres what i would do. same as on my :macm: deploy the foil, tie a line to the gunwale, about midships, walk the line around, on the outside of the shrouds, go under the bow, all the way down the other side, ( lift rudders and motor) and back to the starting point, pull the line up snug and tie it o...

Re: Making rudders
thats an awesome find, love it.
how do you plan to finish tops and bottoms?
will the weight of the ali, counteract the natural buoyancy of the entrapped air.
or will you drill a hole in the bottom, like the mac rudders, so that they can fill and sink?

Re: Making rudders
another option, is if the rudders are symmetrical, simply make a mold of the good one, and make a new rudder.- it will be identical.

Re: Modifications for stability in rough water
i do agree with Brian though, in big consistant waves the macs are pretty good, in small chop they are good, but in a sloppy, bigger sea, usually when i find the wind and tide are opposing, i find my :macm: can be a tad "rolly". i can only think its a combination of high windage, a long mo...

Re: Modifications for stability in rough water
like the fishing boats that use para vanes, i wonder if there would be any benefit to dropping a line overboard, either side, about midships, with two small paravanes on them. that may dampen the roll. is this for at anchor, or for underway at low speeds? it could be improved upon, by having two sho...

Re: Scupper drainage
mine bugged me so much, i cghanged it all, i put another thru hull- cant remember if it was an inch or 1.25 " on the transom, next to the existing one. then i put a thru hull fitting in the motor well- cut out the other pathetic fitting, and just plumbed a straight line from the well top the ou...
