On my 26d, we routinely see GPS indicated 6.5 to 7.2 knots with full main and any of my head sails, depending on the situation. Today on Presque Isle Bay in Lake Erie, we hit 7.1 knots on a broad reach using full main and an 87% jib with flat water and west wind at 8 to 12 knots. That's with 4 adults and my 6 year old son on a lightly loaded boat.
The fastest I've personally seen was about 8.5 knots GPS indicated sailing wing on wing through our bay channel, with the main and 109% jib and following seas.
My dad said he's seen over 10 knots through the water, surfing the waves near San Diego or Long Beach.
