James V wrote:Kevin, you are right, never a spell check on this site and most others as well. Just hopeing. For now I will just copy and past into a MS word doc and check and then paste again if I am worried about it.

It is a nice to have it on a board but does require the software and computer space.
You can do as I do and use Google Toolbar. You can find it Here. It has a lot of other great features and a spell checker for web forms. Versions for IE and Firefox.

Find new post function not there when loged in.

When I click the "Forum bottom" at the top of the page after being loged in, I get logged out and then I can find the "Active Post".

All,

When I click on a link in a post it opens the link in the same explorer window/frame (not sure of the correct terminology).

Seems like opening in a new window would be better. Is this the way it worked before? I can't remember. Is there a setting I can select so that when clicking on a link a new window opens for that link?

Thanks for any help.

Jim

No there's not a setting you can change, and yes, I think on the old board it did indeed open a new window (the http code for that is "target=_blank").

I will pass this on to Heath for him to consider as an upgrade when he has time.

Hmm... I think it is there, James. Click "Board Index" above and you'll see this line:

* View unanswered posts • View new posts • View active topic

Click the center one and you're good to go.

Hmm.. well, here's how to create a link...

Code: Select all

Google!
Which makes this:

Google!

Not sure that's any different than before... how had you been doing it?

Also, send me a link to the duplicate, plz and I'll have a look.

Yep, you got it! :D

Yes, almost everyone lost post counts because of the Pub entries rolling off while the site was down. In some cases where folks were close to the margin between ranks, or in cases where a person almost always exclusively posts in the Pub, this caused a rank demotion... sorry!

OK, I have made all posted links now open pages in new tabs (or windows for people using older browsers). You can test with the Google link above.

Thanks Kevin, what I was doing before was using the "history" to go back and not via the board. After I log in I have to use the board to go back ot the main menue and then "View post".

Small change.

On the old board, I had bookmarked the "View New Posts" link as my login page. It would allow me to use RoboForm to go to the new posts and login at the same time. Now, I get sent to the advanced search page after the login and have to back-page twice to get to the new posts. Weird.

Yeah, I've got a similar problem, Rich. You can't stay logged in for long periods of time and automatically navigate to 'new posts'. This may be something that Heath will want to look at down the line - right now I expect he's recovering from all the effort!

So far I haven't experienced any problems with staying logged in or viewing new posts. I must be using the system differently than you guys.

Kevin,

No disrepect meant to those who work hard to make this board work. Somethings work differently now and it's just a matter of figuring them out. Just a bit frustrating to not do what I've done before. Frank already addressed it on another thread. Let's see if I can make it work here:

Deep Fried Ice Cream

North Haven

Submarine vs. Sailboat

Robot Fight

I guess I've got it straightened out now!! Thanks

On the main page, the new post box is staying the same.

????? When I leave the board, is all the boards cookies deleted? If so, that would account for not staying logged in.
