MacGregor Sailor's Lifeboat

Postby Hamin' X » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:42 pm

Since the main board was down for about 24 hours and there are many new members aboard now, I thought I'd bring up the MacGregor Sailor's Lifeboat. This is a separate forum from here and it's main purpose is to keep members informed of problems with the main board. The Moderators and Heath check in there to keep the membership posted on the status of the main board. As well, feel free to post other topics among yourselves on the MacGregor Sailor's Lifeboat, or utilize the chat room that is available there. I invite and encourage all members to register there. This is a free service that remains idle most of the time and is not intended to compete with the main board.

What's special about the chat room on the lifeboat? How does it get utilized thats different from the front / back rooms on this site?

A chat room is real-time and is more like a converstation. There are no topics, or threads; more of a free-for-all.

Just wanted to update everyone. Heath has put us on notice that it is time to upgrade the forum software. Last time this was done, the board was down for a number of days. Although this latest upgrade is not as major as the one that caused problems, gremlins can sneak in during the night. If it should go down, you can receive updates on the progress at the:

MacGregor Sailor's Lifeboat

There is a general discussion area as well, so that you can just "Say, Hey".

This is a totally separate forum and just because you are registered here, you will not be on the Lifeboat, you must register there as well. No ads, no tricks, only info. The lifeboat is not meant to compete with this forum.

Yes, Rich, just to chime in so everyone knows this is 'legit'... the Lifeboat is where everyone will be notified of progress or any issues related to this upgrade.

I strongly suggest going there now and registering, as well as saving a link to the Lifeboat... if you don't do that now, you won't be able to get back here to find it!
