Re: Annual MAD MEN of Ontario Rendezvous IV
Geoff,
Either group would be acceptable. Any thought for the Credit Shuffle weekend instead? I'm sure we could secure enough berths in March when it opens up for auction.
With luck we will be relocated in the Rideau area by then. We'd probably sail down the lake from there and make a total trip holiday trip out if it.

Earlier is better, as the kids go back to college near the end of August, though the 16-19 window is a week earlier than last time. That's why I couldn't make it this year.beene wrote:Looking at dates for August 2013

My FIL likely would still be here, before heading back down to Florida, and he's the only one that would likely care to go. The Admiral would go, but only if there's a hotel with room service nearby.
I'd go alone in a heartbeat, but the Admiral (again) wouldn't care for that - afraid I'd have a heart attack or something.

Re: Annual MAD MEN of Ontario Rendezvous IV
It would be great to have you Stephen
Will try to organize it better this time
Lost of Macs on Ontario, just at different locations
Thinking of shooting for a meet up on the water on a Saturday Sunday midday
Raft up
Then head out for a group sail as many as we can
That way not everyone has to try to get a slip in the same marina when they already have a slip not too far away
I will be staying at the Credit Village Marina for the weekend as usual Thurs - Mon ish
That is a separate thing on its own
Some of us loose their footing on the otherwise wide and very safe docks
Ending up needing to wear PFD's just to walk from one Mac to another.... not mentioning any names....
All we need is a MOB drill while docked for the night and trying to keep a low profile

So the admiral is surprisingly interested in towing the boat across the world for this. Where is the sailing actually? Great lakes?

Yes
All of the sailing for this event will take place on Lake Ontario
One of the great lakes
Directly in front of the city of Toronto, Canada
Long drive from CA for sure

Looks like a mere 2600 miles, and an easy drive on the I15 to I70.

Stay on your side of the boarder until Windsor unless you want to pay a lot more for gasmastreb wrote:Looks like a mere 2600 miles, and an easy drive on the I15 to I70.

Combine your trip with a visit to Niagara Falls. Just another thought.

Yeah. And the irony there is that a lot of the gas you will be buying (depending on far from the border you are) will have come from Canada. I'm trotting off to Buffalo tomorrow, and before I come back I'm going to buy me some of that Canadian gas at a discount!Stay on your side of the boarder until Windsor unless you want to pay a lot more for gas
