impact on reducing mast by 4 inches?

Post by bmwtourer »

Hello
new to the forum... thank you...

i am new to sailing and looking to purchase a Mac Gregor 25, but the current owner had an accident while trailering the boat back in his driveway and hit something that broke the mast. He had it soldered but in the process the length was reduced by 4 inces or so...

is this something crucial to make me forget This boat or is it not a problem?
what is the impact/solution?
thank you

I wouldn't give up on the boat over that.

Where did the break happen, and how good was the effort to move the fixtures? If you do keep that mast, it might mean having some work done on the sails. If you don't keep the mast, then the price ought to reflect that.

Sounds like the PO took the 4 inches out of the middle? Is that correct?
